You will need to remove the spool and open the cap to ensure the line is properly installed and not stuck. The spool should be wound neatly and evenly. If you notice the line is loose or bulging in certain areas, this can also cause issues with the feeding line. Also, be sure the line is wound in the right direction.
Rough fret edges on your guitar fretboard can cause guitar strings to break more. Overwinding your strings and incorrect string fitting makes guitar strings break. Using the wrong strings on your guitar causes guitar strings to break. Drop tuning your guitar can cause string breakage.
The clutch engages the clutch pads to spin the trimmer head. If the clutch assembly is defective, the clutch will not disengage the clutch pads, and the trimmer head will continue to spin, even at low speeds. If the clutch is defective, replace it.
What is it? The Automatic Feed Spool (AFS™) is the technologically advanced line feed system found on Black & Decker string trimmer products such as the Grass Hog™, Trimmer/Edger, and the 12″ Cordless Trimmer/Edger.
Line wears or breaks quickly
It`s normal for the cutting line to wear down as you use it, but the trimmer line can wear faster than you expect if you`re cutting tough or thick weeds, if you`re cutting against hard surfaces such as rocks and walls, or if the line is spinning too fast.
There are a few possible reasons in which a string trimmer will excessively feed line. The incorrect type or size of line may be installed. Check the Operator`s Manual to verify that the correct trimmer line size for the model trimmer in question is being used. The indexing teeth, inside the inner reel, may be worn.
Threads can break if your needle is not inserted properly. Make sure the eye of the needle is facing the front (not slanted) and that the scarf (indent) of the needle is facing the back. Burrs in the needle may also cause the thread to shred. It`s also important to check up on your needles from time to time.
Generally speaking, you can keep your trimmer line from becoming brittle by keeping it away from the sun. To keep it strong, you can also soak it in water for at least 24 hours before using it. Protecting the line from extreme temperatures also slows down its aging.

ANSWER : Just cheap equipment. Mark it up to experience and do not purchase equipment fro home center or box stores ever again. This is just one of the many problems of dealing with the box stores rather than a full service qualified dealer. If you can find one in your area, patronize them. Not just when the box store lets you down but for everything. These type dealers are disappearing and are not being replaced and soon they will all be gone.
I cant remove the spool to change the line. it appears to be stuck.
ANSWER : Well there is either a screw knob that must be unscrewed first, or you aren’t removing it correctly. Some just Pull/pop right off. Others must be pushed in and twisted (Like a child proof cap) usually in the opposite direction the line spins. Pull the cord a tiny bit to see which way it spins, then push down/in on the spool (its spring loaded) and twist opposite. Most of today’s trimmers will give you the spool like that. Putting it back on it simply the reverse action.
How do you get the cap off to replace the string?
ANSWER : Here is a video on 3 different heads. Yours is probably the first head that he demonstrates:(do not delete) The
only thing that is not demonstrated is a left-hand vs. right-hand
trimmer. The spool retainer may twist off in the opposite direction if
