Riding mowers are not exactly precision handing machines to start with. Steering slop creeps in over time.
Locate all steering linkages and tie rods between steering column and the wheels and check for signs of excessive wear, sloppiness in connection points, or anything unusually loose. Replace and or tighten where required.

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

Check the steering linkage and wheel/axle hardware. If the vehicle has been sitting for a long time, something may have seized. It will need to be lubricated and any bent or broken parts replaced. If any part is replaced i.e. tie rod end, etc., be sure to check/adjust wheel alignment.
The most common cause of a stiff steering wheel is when you are running low on power steering fluid in your system. Often, this happens when there is a leak in the system from the pressurized hose area. Most of the time, it is due to a cracked or loose hose causing the fluid to leak out.
One of the most common reasons that your car may be pulling to one side is that the wheel alignment is off – in other words, your wheels aren`t pointing quite in the right direction. Wheels are correctly aligned when your tyres are in line with the axles, making a rectangle parallel to each other.
Gears are wheels with jagged edges like teeth. The teeth help the wheels turn each other. You can find gears in bicycles, cars, and many other machines. A pulley is a simple machine made of a wheel and a rope.
However, it`s not recommended that you turn your steering wheel all the way. Doing so can wear out your steering mechanisms, which can eventually lead to a broken steering wheel. The same goes for turning your wheel while stationary, since this also puts unnecessary pressure on your steering mechanism.
From the usual two-seater or three-seater layout, placing the steering wheel at the center of the cockpit would sacrifice the seating capacity upfront. This makes it an impractical thing to do with a standard vehicle, perhaps, that`s why only track cars like the Mclaren F1 and other F1 vehicles sport this setup.

On my cu cadet zero turn only the left side turns and the right side moans but wont move ever with the release lever to free wheel released
ANSWER : Check the hydraulic oil level for the hydrostat drives(if it has a reserve tank located under the seat. Some ZT’s don’t have the reserve tank. Don’t over fill that tank. 1/4 inch above the bottom is all it needs.)

Also, check the steering arm bolts. Very often they work themselves loose and the arm doesn’t pull the valve rod that controls the hydrostat unit.
