The easiest way to do this is to wind the pulley up against the spring tention, when the pulley is wound enough, align the cord hole in the pulley up with the hole in the starter cover, knot one end of the new corc, feed the other end through the hole in the pulley and out through the hole in the starter cover, allow the pulley to rewind and pull the cord in, re connect the starter handle, if the rope doed not fully retract, hold the cord against the enge of the pulley and wind the pulley up against spring tention a further turn.

ANSWER : There should be four bolts holding the cover on that houses the pull cord assembly take the bolts out look inside you should see the rest of the broken cord at the other end there is a spool that the cord rolls up in to pull the cord until it stops the other end of the cord is a not in the cord pull on the knot the broken peice should come out turn the spool 2 times in the direction that is against the pressre while holding the spool in place feed the new cord in through the whole that you pulled the broken cord out of then tie the cord in a knot wind the rest of the cord up then feed the other end of the cord through the new pull handle tie the cord in a knot put the housing back on

Broken pull cord
ANSWER : You have to take four allen screw out of the plastic that holds the engine on. There is also one by the spark plug that needs to come out. Once the engine is loose, you have to unplug one wire and unscrew the other. Then the engine should come off. Then loosen the two allen screws holding the pulley in and it will come out.

Trying to replace the pull cord , can’t get last housing off to get to coile up old cord , the shaft has a nut on the end that the auger screws into but i cannot get that piece off as there is no where to put a wrench to stop the turning of the engine shaft so i can torque the nut in the other direction to get it off , what do i do to get this pull cord replaced?
ANSWER : Use an impact wrench it will hit the nut so fast it will loosen it befroe the engine car turn over

Broken pullcord the pull cord on my cub cadet push mowersnaped and broken and we put it back in and know it wont wind back in
ANSWER : Yeah I got the same problem. My pull cord broke in the first season. On my own once the plastic cover is removed, 4 phillips screws, the cord housing is secured by 3 10mm nuts. Remove them and lift out the housing. On my own unit the spring had also slipped out of the mount on the shaft securing the assembly (another 10mm socket nut will loosen that) and I had to resecure that first, then wind it up before making the knot.. I used a Briggs and Stratton cord from another (truly dead) mower and have had no problems since then.

ANSWER : There are screws holding the top of the mower on, you should be able to remove those and lift them to get access to the cord. From there it is easy. just put new cord back the opposite of the way you removed it, making sure that you get it wrapped the correct direction. you can get a cord anywhere they sell mowers.

Electric start does not work. how do i trouble shoot it?
ANSWER : Mine the electric cord had pulled out of the receptacle.on the blower so it was not working. I pulled it right out and reinstalled it It’s ok now.
Do you have power coming to the blower or have you blown a GFI and it needs to be reset. Does the starter click or try to work? These are things that I have to know before we tear things apart.
If it buzzes it could need a gear replacement. on the starter itself.

How do i fix the pull start and re tension it so cord retracts?
ANSWER : Hi. .Steve if you have replaced handle then I will assume you have cord remaining on your spool
remove unit from engine and place face down and if possible get assistance to hold it while you remove handle and hold cord while turning spool in dorection of pull until resistance is felt plus another two turns , this is called pre tentison of re coil spring. Hold firmly untill cord is threaded out and through handle and a big knot is made, test pull to ensure pawls come out when pulled to engage with crank pulley. Refit to engine cheers

I cant seem to pull the cord out to start it. what cant be wrong with it. when i look at it, it doesnt seem to be caught around anything.
ANSWER : Take off pullcord housing try movin the pully inside if it dosent it has seized not enough 2stroke oil in fuel
