Professional Backpack Poly 4-Gallon Sprayer #61804

The TOP is stuck and will NOT budge how am I supposed to get it off without using my 12 gauge shotgun?
Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
Hi Chris:
Seems a bit extreme to consider using the 12 gauge. I’ve found that a .22 works quite well. (Humour)
Hint! Pressurized tanks must have the pressure relieved BEFORE the lid can be removed.
If the lid has been over tightened or has stuck, you’ll need to get more leverage to unscrew it. Sometimes a rag wrapped around it is all it takes.
You can also try pouring hot water over the cap. Lay the tank flat so the rim of the cap gets the heat. Wrap an old towel around it first so it gets a good hot soak.
Should come off without the artillery.
Cheers

Backpack Sprayer Lever Is Hard To “Pump”

The most common cause of plugs is chemical residue buildup inside the sprayer. Herbicides and pesticides can gum things up if not thoroughly rinsed. Clean out any gunk and rinse out the pump assembly. Also, ensure the check valves are opening and closing freely.

Air can get locked in between the tank and the trigger, but there is an easy fix for this. Simply turn the pump on and hold the trigger at a level lower than the tank, squeeze and hold. What this will accomplish is the sprayer will force the air down and out of the wand.
Unlock by lightly pushing downward on the raised tab with a fingernail until it snaps into place. If the raised arrow in the top of the nozzle is pointing to X, the nozzle is CLOSED. Twist to the desired spray setting – SPRAY or STREAM. Remember to twist the nozzle back to CLOSE after using.
DEPRESSURIZE – Push pump handle all the way down and turn pump handle and cap -counter clockwise to relieve pressure, and then retighten prior to storing.
