WHAT IS THE CORRECT SPARK PLUG GAP FOR MY PRODUCT? The spark plug gap for all ECHO products is . 024″-.
Because leaf blowers demand so much power from their 2-stroke engines, it`s recommended that users disconnect the spark plug, check it for corrosion, and make sure it meets the manufacturer`s specifications once a week while the blower is in regular use.
Why Is The Spark Plug Gap Important? The spark plug gap influences the heat range of the spark produced to ignite the air fuel mixture in the combustion chamber. This makes it critical to engine performance.
Fit the spark-plug socket over the protruding plug and gently unscrew it from the engine using a counter-clockwise motion. Too much force can crack the plug and cause pieces to fall into the engine. Do your best to ensure no debris enters the spark-plug hole when you lift it out.
When in doubt, some professionals recommend the gap on the spark club electrode range between 0.023 inches and 0.028 inches.
Replace the spark plug with a new one at the start of fall or after every 25 hours of use, whichever comes first.
These screens help prevent heated gases from escaping the internal combustion engines. In many countries, these screens are a mandatory requirement for not just all leaf blowers, but most internal combustion engines, such as cars, motorcycles, chainsaws and other lawn and garden equipment.
Loss of spark is caused by anything that prevents coil voltage from jumping the electrode gap at the end of the spark plug. This includes worn, fouled or damaged spark plugs, bad plug wires or a cracked distributor cap.
If no spark appears, check for broken wires, shorts, grounds or a defective stop switch. Once you have confirmed that the stop switch is working, reconnect the spark plug lead.
If you install the wrong size, the tips of each spark plug could make contact with the pistons inside the engine, which can cause extensive damage.
While you can gap spark plugs with household items in some situations, most technicians and car mechanics strongly recommend using a spark plug gapping tool. When gapping spark plugs, your mechanic will use industry-approved tools (a gapper) that do not damage the spark plugs (mainly the center electrode).
Gapping fine-wire spark plugs
While most NGK spark plugs are pre-gapped, there are occasions when the gap requires adjustment. Care must be taken to avoid bending or breaking off the fine-wire electrodes. NGK recommends a round wire-style or pin gauge gap tool to measure the gap.
Spark plug gaps for car engines are typically 0.6 to 1.8 mm (0.024 to 0.071 in). Modern engines (using solid-state ignition systems and electronic fuel injection) typically use larger gaps than older engines that use breaker point distributors and carburetors.
For most racing applications, you usually want the plug gap to be between 0.020 and 0.040 of an inch. Most engine builders seem to settle around 0.035 of an inch.
The plugs recommended for M20B20`s with a catalytic convertor in the original service information is the BOSCH W8DC and the NGK equivalent is the BP5E which should actually have a gap of 0.6mm and from what I understand these have a lower heat rating than the BPR6ES.

A spark plug gap is kept from– 0.3-0.7 mm because 0.3-0.7 is perfect gap for making spark in spark plug.

I have a pb-251. replaced carb, air filter, hoses, spark plug and cleaned spark arrestor. start easily. runs fine for 2 minutes and then stalls if I give it the gas but will idle all day long.
ANSWER : Loosen gas cap. Probably a bad Vent in the gas cap
Started PB620-ST yesterday with some difficulty. However, ran until fuel empty. Refueled today, but will not start. Spark at plug ok. Fuel flowing, but seems to overflow into air filter compartment. Does not seem to “fire” at all.
ANSWER : Sounds like your flooding the engine; I did the same thing. Wait a while to let the gas drain back to the tank. Use your primer bulb once and your choke for only ONE pull; then shut off the choke. Pull start without the choke 2-3 times and it should start.
I recently tuned up my blower. It starts great but if I turn it off Nd try to restart it it floods and will not start until I let it sit for awhile.
ANSWER : If the engine is warm and you shut it down, leave the choke off, lower the revs and start it. (when the choke is wide open you are using the fresh air coming in to dry the spark plugs and prevent flooding). If the motor is already flooded use that procedure to dry the plugs, then go back to full choke until it tries to start and quits again, then use half choke and pull one more time… works all the time.
I have an Echo PB251 Handheld Leaf Blower that I just installed a new carburetor on and it still won’t start – WHY?
ANSWER : Spark arrest in muffler could be clogged. Remove muffler and clean.
Where is the coil on a pb255 hand blower – Echo 135 mph 390 CFM Gas Blower PB-250
ANSWER : Flollow the plug wire it will take you too the coil
Using the blower worked fine, now will not start at all. have replaced plug, fuel fuel filter , piston looks good no real damage or smudge. good compression and have pulled switch apart and wonder if this could be the problem
ANSWER : Check to see if its getting spark when the switch is on if it is then see if its getting fuel the only two things i can think of would be the switch or needs a carb kit
It will not start and has no spark. I pulled the plug and let it hang and had no spark. I did the same thing with a spark plug and still no change. Can anyone help me
ANSWER : First of all- your methods of testing spark are … unsatisfactory.
You need a spark tester and a good unit ground to determine the condition of the module.
For preliminary tests the spark plug needs to be grounded. Insert the plug into the spark plug boot and make sure there is a good connection and make sure the plug is grounded by touching the threaded part of the spark plug to a solid engine component. Usually the cooling fins of the cylinder or head. Once the plug is grounded proplerly then pull the rope and check for fire.
Once you are satisfied that there is no spark then unplug the ground wire from the module and check for spark again. If you have spark then its a switch or bad wire problem. If still no spark then replace the module.
Where is the coil located on a echo handheld pb255 gas blower?echo
ANSWER : Just follow the plug wire right to usally under cylinder or near recoil houseing
