You can drain it and it will be just fine. Putting mix gas into an egine that just needs gas is fine. Its going to smoke untill all the oil is burnt up. He didnt hurt a thing. Altho if you put just gas into an engine that need mix you will cause alot of problems so becarefull with that. Good luck and if you have any more questions about it feel free to email me.A.J. Weaver
How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
Blue or white smoke coming from your engine usually indicates burning oil, which can be caused by: Overfilling the crankcase with oil. Incorrect oil grades. Operating engine at greater than a 15 degree angle.
Completely drain the oil tank using the drain plug and allow the oil tank to air out and dry overnight. Do this outdoors. Fill the oil tank with new oil. If needed, drain the oil tank again to ensure all of the gas is out of the oil tank before adding new oil again.
What causes fuel to leak into my engine oil? The fuel shut-off valve isn`t closed properly. Fuel float in the carburetor being stuck in the open position due to gumming (caused by stale fuel) or debris.
Usually the problem is in the float bowl. The float needle and seat need replacing. When it`s faulty, gas doesn`t stop flooding the carburetor and gets into the cylinder and mixes with the oil. You must also change the oil when this happens as your oil is now ruined.
White/Grey/Blue Coloured smoke) can be caused by overfilled oil levels, spilt/leaked oil on the engine or a dirty oil filter. Check and confirm the lawnmower has the correct amount of SAE30 oil by checking oil level is between the minimum and maximum marks on the dipstick.
Black smoke may indicate that the mower is “running rich,” or burning too much gasoline. Your lawn mower`s carburetor regulates the ratio of gasoline to air mixture. If the carburetor isn`t getting enough air, the mixture has a higher percentage of gasoline, which can create black exhaust smoke.
Overfilling a lawn mower oil tank will negatively affect engine performance and possibly prevent the mower from starting. Too much oil in a lawn mower can easily clog the air filter, foul spark plugs, and potentially cause a hydro-lock, which could bend the connection rods in a multi-cylinder mower.
However, the main cause is through a process called blow-by. This occurs because most seals are not perfect (nor are the cylinders perfectly rounded), or there is an opening through the cylinder crosshatches, and this causes the migration of fuel and exhaust gases into the areas where the oil is used.
If carburetor problems are causing fuel to mix with your oil in the crankcase, you should perform a thorough cleaning. Find out how to clean your small engine carburetor.
The white smoke is the engine burning off all the excess oil. The fix – drain the excessive oil, and idle the engine until the smoke clears. This may take 5 minutes or so. Too much oil will cause other problems, smoke, poor running, no running, leaks, engine damage.
