Starts fine, it runs for about 10/15 mintues then it just shuts off. it won’t start until a hour or so

If it is gasoline powered, ensure mix is correct if 2 cycle, check exhaust for carbon blockage. Either will cause overheating.

If your lawn mower starts, runs briefly, then dies these are the four most common reasons that`s happening: Dirty carburetor / clogged carburetor bowl. Old gasoline that has gone bad. Dirty or defective spark plugs.
Condensation inside the gas tank is one culprit, but moisture can also enter the system through a loose or ill fitting gas cap. The best solution is to drain the mower`s gas tank and refill it with fresh gasoline. A clogged fuel filter can also cause a mower engine to die.
A Dirty Carburetor Can Cause a Lawnmower To Start Then Die
By far, the most common issue that causes a stalled motor is a dirty carburetor. The carburetor on your engine is the thing that draws in air and mixes it with the fuel. Contrary to what the movies might make you think, gasoline itself is not very flammable.
Other things that could cause this issue are bad fuel, weak/colapsed/kinked fuel line, faulty spark plug, faulty ignition/coil, oil over full, clogged air filter, plugged/dirty carburetor, worn engine parts internal rings/valves/etc.
Your lawn mower runs for 30 minutes then dies if you are having issues such as a bad spark plug, air problems, a malfunctioning carburetor, or a faulty gas cap. You may even encounter the issue that your lawn mower runs for 5 minutes then dies.
The most common cause of a mower that runs for thirty minutes and then dies is a faulty armature. A faulty gas cap is the second most likely cause.
Electric lawnmowers may cut out for two main reasons: A faulty power switch or a loose cable connection. An overheating motor can cause the thermal cut out to trip.
Thankfully, your dead grass will probably grow back with the proper care if you`ve caught the problem quickly (within about 3-5 weeks). Depending on why it died in the first place, you`ll need to aerate, water, and/or manage unwanted pests.
The most common reason for a surging lawn mower engine is a blockage in the fuel supply, but there are other possibilities: Bad gas. Bad spark plug. Dirty/faulty carburetor.
Your lawnmower may stop running when hot due to an overheated engine, air leaks, a clogged fuel system, or the carburetor not getting enough gas. It is also possible that the engine is not cooling as it runs because of a dirty air filter. Finally, worn-out pistons may also be the problem.
Use Carburetor Cleaner
Fortunately, you can generally do this without even taking the carburetor out of the engine. Start by purchasing some commercial lawnmower carburetor cleanerOpens a new window, which comes in a simple spray can and will make it easy to clean the inside and outside of the carb.
This is most likely a safety switch issue. Usually the seat safety switch will cause this problem. The mower dies because it thinks nobody is sitting in the seat, and shuts off for safety reasons.

Will start and run for a while then quits.
I am not a expert just trying to help you,, if crank and run for 10 to 15 minutes then shut off ,that sound like the magneto is getting hot (some call it a coil that makes the spark plug fire) it will crank and the same thing after a hour oor so of cooling down,,hope this help you
Enigine smokes after 15 minutes use, blue smoke
The piston rings are probably worn in the motor.
Our snapper shuts off after 15 or 20 minutes, does start back up after it cools – what do you think?
Could be the coil. Once it gets hot it shorts out and shuts the engine down then cools off and works again. OR it could be that the fuel cap doesn’t vent and allow air into the gas tank causing a vacuum lock so fuel won’t flow out of the tank. Just need to clean the fuel cap vent holes. Test for spark right away when it shuts down and still hot to find out if it is the coil. If the spark is gone when hot and normal when cold then it is the coil.
Why do i keep fouling da spark plug? i remove it clean it and it runs about 15 or 20 seconds and stallsand plug is bkack and fouled AGAIN
Sounds like you are burning a lot of oil or you used two cycle fuel instead of regular gasoline. If you used the wrong fuel, drain tank and carburetor and it will clear up pretty quick. If you used the right fuel, did you overfill the oil? If oil level is where it should be, and the right fuel was used, then the alternatives from there fall into the not so good catagory, and they all involve at least some amount of engine disassembly.Good luck.
2010 model 20 hp Briggs motor. Fuel going through fuel line, but not going into carberator. Motor runs good for about 15 min, but after heating up this fuel problem starts. After cooling down for an hour it will run again for about 15 min.\r\nThanks for any advice

1 Is fuel coming out of the fuel line. Older mowers have old fuel lines and they tend to get weak and collapse went they warm up with engine heat. Replace the old fuel line.
2 deposits in the carb. take off the air cleaner, start it up and spray a good carb cleaner in the carb until the engine dies. Put some ‘seafoam’ in the gas and a little in the oil and put the air cleaner back on and start the mower and mow on FULL THROTTLE. this should claen out the carb. Yes the mower will run rough for awhile.
these two cheap fixes will solve 85 % of carb problems. GOOD LUCK
Mower won’t turn over. It’s not the fuse. Also it was running good when it shut down.
You can jump it with your car to eliminate the battery, if it is not the battery then you might want to pull back on the lever that engages the blades, it start then . Good Luck Tim
After about 15 minutes of operation my mower just cuts off as though it ran our of gas but has not. I have replaced the ignition coil, spark plug, air filter, fuel filter. I have a 17.5 hp Craftsman riding mower.
I have same problem only thing ive found is gas tank may not be venting properly. Fill tank about half full and leave cap off, if still stalls then probably engine problem
It won’t stay running. have cleaned the gas tank and it just had a tune up. runs fine then gets rough and quits. If I push the bulb it smooths out and runs fine for a couple of minutes and then begins hesitating again. Now today it ran for about 15 min. and now it won’t start. It wants to. runs for a couple of seconds 5-10 and then quits.
