How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
A clogged carburetor is most commonly caused by leaving fuel in the leaf blower for a long period of time. Over time, some of the ingredients in the fuel may evaporate, leaving behind a thicker, stickier substance. This sticky fuel can clog up the carburetor and cause the engine to stall.
A clogged air filter may cause your blower to idle roughly as well. Air filters can be cleaned to ensure they run properly, and should be inspected as part of your normal blower maintenance routine. If the air filter in your leaf blower is partially plugged, it can cause your engine to run, but die at full throttle.
If your carburetor is clogged, it can cause your leaf blower`s engine to die when the choke is disengaged. You can disassemble it, clean it, and replace individual parts with a carb kit. Once your carburetor has been unclogged, cleaned, and re-assembled using the carb kit, the engine should run with the choke off.
Check for a dirty air filter and replace if needed.
A clogged filter limits the amount of cool air that passes over the heat exchanger, causing it to overheat and shut off. At the same time, your blower turns on to help cool it down.
The fuel lines on your blower carry fuel from the tank to the engine. If these fuel lines are obstructed, it can`t allow the proper amount of fuel to enter the engine, which will cause it to run for a short time, but ultimately stall out. You may be able to clean out the fuel lines and solve this problem.
Blower motor breakdown can be the result of anything from old age to failed bearings, high amp draw, electrical failure in the windings, dirt accumulation, and more. “The most common cause is dirt accumulation due to lack of maintenance,” said Tom Beaulieu, president of Bay Area Services Inc.
Power surges occur when the flow of electricity is interrupted, then started again, or when something sends electricity flowing back into the system. Surges can range from five or ten volts when you turn on your hair dryer to thousands of volts if lightning strikes a transformer.
A common problem that could be keeping your leaf blower from starting is a blocked air filter. Clogged air filters cause the blower`s engine to receive too much fuel and not enough air, which often leads to a faulty start (or no start at all).
Dirty Air Filters So, the furnace is triggered to stop, then it cools down only to fire back up again. This short cycling continues to repeat until the furnace receives the airflow it needs. Dirty air filters are one of the most common reasons behind furnace short cycling.
A typical reason for your blower motor overheating is a clogged air filter. When the air filter is clogged, the blower motor has to work harder to pull warm air into the system, which can cause the motor to overheat. To keep your fan motor from overheating, you`ll want to check your air filter every 2 months.

Seems to start easily run for a few minutes and then slow and stop–bulb remains full –gas is good–have tried half choke in case too lean–did not solve–also seems possibly related to the angle I hold it at–seems to cut out quicker if blower tube angled more downward.

I have a Echo leaf blower and I can get it running but then it’s cuts off after just a few seconds. It has new plug, air filter and fuel filter. What else could it be?
ANSWER : The carburetor could be dirty and need a good cleaning and you could first remove the fuel pump cover (cover without the vent hole) to the carburetor and look for the small, round, fine-mesh screen. Sometimes it gets covered with dirt and debris and has to be cleaned as it allows the fuel to flow into the metering side of the carburetor.

Will only develop power (and run somewhat properly) when the choke is engaged about 90%. Starts fine.
ANSWER : Sounds to me as tho you may have a loose carburetor or another part that is letting air into the system. Check all bolts and screws for tightness. Also, you may need to clean the carburetor or put some cleaner in your gas. Not too much, only about a tablespoon, but check the screws/bolts first.
Want run unless choke remains on – Stihl Bg72 Leaf Blower Intake
ANSWER : Probably fuel starvation.Wrong fuel air mix settings on the carb. Damaged carb diaphragm.
I have a new echo PB250 Leaf blower and it will not keep running. It starts fine but shuts off after a few seconds.
ANSWER : Sounds like a dirty carb, dissamble it and rinse good with carb clean, be careful when taking the top off it that you get it back together the same spray the white center good and all little holes good. then reassemble, also try to loosen your gas cap maybe first before cleaning carb, you might have a plugged vent in the line coming out of the tank. Good Luck
My blower only runs with 3/4 choke even after warm up.
ANSWER : Look on the carb for 2 screws side by side. where those screws go into the carb, it will be stamped with an “H” and “L”. Open the screw that is next to the “H”, counterclockwise about 1/4 turn at a time with the engine running, that should solve it.
