The saw is running but the chain is not moving on the bar. Can you help me with this
Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
If you rev the engine and the chain does not spin, either the chain is jammed, or is adjusted to tightly on the bar, or the centrifugal clutch is malfunctioning. With the engine off and leather gloves on, see if the chain will move on the bar, you should be able to move the chain 4 or 5 inches. If you can spin it, the clutch is probably bad. If its stuck, take the housing off over the clutch and make sure the chain is seated on the sprocket and not jammed to the side. Inspect the chain on the bar, there should some slight play in the chain tension. Look for any links that dont flex. This happens to be cause I overtighten the chain to the bar.

The most common cause of a chainsaw that won`t cut properly is a dull cutting chain. Try sharpening or replacing the chain. Need help finding your model number? The chain may not have the proper amount of tension.
If the clutch pads are worn out, the motor will run, but the clutch pads will not engage the clutch drum. As a result, the chain won`t turn. Make sure that the stop lever is disengaged. If the stop lever is engaged, the chain won`t turn.
The chainsaw chain should feel snug but still pull freely.
The throttle and lock safety feature prevents accidental throttle engagement. Both the throttle and and lock must be pressed in order for the chain to move.
A dirty carburetor, bad gasoline and low-quality two-stroke oil that creates deposits all contribute to chainsaw starting problems.
The fuel line may be clogged from stale fuel deposits, more reasons to cause your chainsaw to cut out when applying throttle. If a fuel line is cracked, it will leak gasoline and draw air from outside into the fuel line. If the line is leaking fuel, it needs to be replaced.

I was using the saw as a chain saw last weekend to cut up an old tree stump when the chain came off. I don’t know how to access it to put it back on and don’t have a user manual. The saw belonged to my late father and I don’t know if he even kept the manual.
ANSWER : You will have to remove the cover on the side the chain bar goes into. There should be one or two nuts holding the cover on the side. The is also a chain tension adjuster you may have to loosen to put it back on. Make note of the direction of the teeth on the chain. It is an directional chain. The tension adjuster is usually a flat head screw on the front side right beside the chain bar.Unless it is a really old saw, manuals are available from most manufacturers for free download. See if you can locate a brand name and model number.

Motor runs, but chain does not move – Remington Electric Chain Saw
ANSWER : Check to see if the chain is on the sprocket to do this you will probably have to remove the side cover on the saw if chain is on sprocket and still will not move then you may have a sheared key in the key way if this saw has one, if it does you should be able to see the key way on the end of the shaft coming out of the motor. there should be a nut that holds the sprocket in place if that nut is loose and the shaft is splined instead of having a key way the the sprocket could slip while the motor is turning.

Husqavarna chain saw wont start it all checks out good its a 460
ANSWER : Remove the spark plug and pull the engine through a number times to expel any accumulated fuel from the crankcase and cylinder. Hold the throttle wide open and choke off while doing this. Lay the spark plug on engine metal (wire attached) and check for spark–it should be blue and snappy. If the engine has a compression release, it may be plugged with carbon–clean or replace. Check the air cleaner and muffler for any plugging. With luck, this should get you running. Hope this helps!
