This is what I have found so far..tried tightening the 4 screws on the plastic crankcase cover and it started to run better. Further investigation showed up with a horrific design of placing plastic against a hot, metallic crankcase. End result is the plastic warping, allowing air to pass thru the gasket. Ordering new cover and gasket..see what happens.

If the engine is not revving up and cuts out before you reach higher revs then you need to do the following checks: Fuel: Make sure it is fresh and correctly mixed (see `Starting Issues`). Air filter: Make sure it is clean and unclogged. Fuel cap: Make sure it`s hand-tight.
When your trimmer starts and runs on choke, it could be because the check valve in the gas cap is clogged. Start the trimmer and gently unscrew the gas cap halfway off. Turn the choke off and assess. If the engine is still running, that means the gas cap may be the culprit.
So, an air filter might clog over time. Once blocked with dust and debris, it cannot supply the required amount of oxygen to your trimmer` engine resulting in power loss. Find the air filter, take out this component, clean and reassemble it. Replace the part if you cannot reuse it.

Petrol weed eater will not start. Alomost starts
ANSWER : Hi Mark, I own a shop, we will not work on ryobi, have you gotten 2 seasons out of it? If so thats probably as good as it gets. But you can check carb settings. In the USA they come with limiters on the adjustment screws, not too much you can do(break them off) back your adjustments counter clockwise 1half turn.

Can not get spool head apart to change line, tried pump pliers, pipe wrench, won’t unscrew!!

Trimmer head won’t turn
ANSWER : If you didn’t recently take it apart, then it sounds like you have broken the drive shaft in the neck of the trimmer. You can probably find this at an outdoor power and equipment type of store.Jim

Carb screws need adjusted i need to know the settings

Ryobi weedeater runs good but when shut down fuel drips out carb. ??
ANSWER : You will probably have to remove the carburetor so you can evenly tighten the screws on the ends. If it still leaks, then you will need to get a rebuild kit for it.
