Rope Chain Repair
Fortunately, a rope chain can be soldered! However, it does require a bit more work due to the complexity of the links. To ensure that the broken pieces of the necklace are fully restored, the jeweler will need to weave the links back together before soldering.
Unfortunately, you also know the struggles that come with it. Your bathroom pull cord keeps breaking for 1 of 3 reasons. Either it`s had too much heavy-handed use, it was cheaply made, or you`ve got a loose wire somewhere.
Remove the old lawnmower pull cord from the handle, feed through the new cord and tie a simple knot. Make sure the knot is nice and tight. Pull it back through the handle to help tighten the knot.

The pull cord on my pressurewasher just broke How do I fix it?
ANSWER : Usually you have to take the shroud that contains the recoil starter assembly off to get to it. You may have to take it apart to fix the rope. If it broke on the end nearest the starter, you probably have enough rope left to reuse it. Usually they break right at the starter, due the the constant bending and rubbing. Pay attention to how it comes apart, and make sure to rewind your spring before putting the rope back on the pulley, otherwise it will not wind back up.
I start twice (when I pull starter rope) then the rope won’t go back
can I know what happen
ANSWER : Your starter/recoil unit has malfunctioned. Disassembly/inspection down to the point where you can get the recoil off will be required. Remove the engine cover screws. The recoil unit may be part of the cover or may be under it. You will easily be able to access it. Replacement parts for your mower are readily available.
My edger tipped over briefly, now the starter cord is hard to pull and it won’t start.
ANSWER : Try removing the spark
plug and squirting some carb cleaner or starting fluid in the
cylinder. Pull the starter cord several times for the piston to drive
out the oil. Clean the plug and replace it. Try to start as normal.

make it easier to start the first time.
Starter rope won’t retract

The rope broke on my lawn mower and I am trying to rewind the spring, but was advised to buy a complete starter assembly, I need to know how much one is and where can I get one. I bought my lawn mower from Home Depot. Can I get one there?
ANSWER : If your rope broke, there was no reason to take the spring out. The rope can be replaced just by taking the rewind housing off, turning pulley to get rest of old rope out, wind the pulley (and spring) the direction the rope would be pull it when starting. Then , when it’s wound tight, back off to align the holes in pulley and cover. Hold it there, stick about an 8′ piece of rope from the outside through the pulley and tie a knot. Hold the rope and let the spring pull the rope back into the starter. an tie handle back. Take your housing, and spring to a shop. They can re-install the spring and put on a rope a heck of a lot cheaper that buying that whole assembly.
I have an MTD Snow Thrower Model 2M1 with a broken starter rope. I replaced the rope but cannot get it to rewind the rope after I pull it. What am I missing when I reinstall the rope and spool?
ANSWER : When you have the starter top removed, you must wind the spring BEFORE installing the rope. Wind the pulley until it is at maximum tension, then unwind it until the hole in the pulley lines up with the eyelet on the starter top. Now, put the rope thru the eyelet and into the pulley hole. It is helpful to have somebody holding the tension on the pulley, or you can insert a small tool thru the vent holes to hold the pulley in place. Use a figure 8 knot on the rope. Go ahead and tie the handle onto the other end of the rope, and release the pulley tension. It should now recoil into the starter housing. Test pull the rope several times to make sure it is moving freely. Reinstall the starter housing onto the engine and retest.
Good luck!

Need to replace 9n tractor starter when you turn ignition key the starter just keeps going around.
ANSWER : I suggest that you pull the starter and make sure the bendix unit isn’t stuck on the shaft which may be rusted or dirty and corroded first. If the starter spins then the starter itself is probably okay. Hope this helps you
