Whenever there is an oil change, you have to reset the engine oil system. This is because the engine oil life system is responsible for calculating when engine oil and filter should be changed. In that case, you have to fix oil service light using a diagnostic tool which supports oil reset function.
The hourmeter, like a car odomometer, can not be reset or turned back.
Step 1 – Put your key into the ignition and turn it to the on position without starting the engine. Step 2 – Slowly press the gas pedal three times in a row within 10 seconds. This should reset the system. Step 3 – Verify the reset by turning the ignition off and then on again.
If your display reads “Engine Oil Life”, select the Reset mode by pressing the Info button on the steering wheel. Then press the Select/Reset button to return your oil life to 100%. If your display reads “Engine Oil Indicator %”, press and hold the Select/Reset knob for more than 5 seconds.

Craftsman DYS 4500. Mower was running, then stopped. Can’t restart; oil very low
ANSWER : There are cam rods in the front of the engine. Sometimes, one may break. Open the cover to check. Of course keep sufficient oil in the crankcase, but if it stopped while you were running it, I don’t think that is the problem.
