How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

The most common reason robotic pool cleaners suddenly stop climbing your pool wall is because the surface becomes slippery due to algae build up. When algae starts to build up in your pool it forms a thin transparent film over the hard surface of your pool.
Usually, the main reason for this is a congested pool filter, skimmer basket or a clog at the intake hole at the bottom of your pool cleaner. To clean the intake hole, just flip the cleaner over underwater and look down into the intake hole.
The Pool Cleaner moves Too Slow

The most likely cause for this is the pool filter, skimmer basket, or a clog in the pool cleaner intake or hose. To clean the intake, first, switch your pump off before removing the cleaner from the water, then flip it over and remove any obstructions from the intake hole.

If your robotic pool cleaner stops moving, check the power cord. It may not be plugged in properly or there may be a problem with the power supply. Check the power supply to make sure the indicator light is on. If it is and the pool cleaner is still not moving, then the problem lies with the cleaner.
Solution. The fix is quite simple. Open the valve that fills your pool and make sure it reaches the recommended levels for the size of your pool and your skimmer. The water level must be at around half of the opening of the skimmer to ensure a steady state of water pressure.
Vacuum cleaners are fairly simple machines. They need power to be transmitted to the vacuum to create a suction force that lifts debris. So, the usual areas that cause suction loss include the wrong height setting, stuck rollers, a faulty gasket, a broken vacuum belt, a filled bag, or a clogged hose.
The rule of thumb for pool maintenance is to run your pump for eight hours per day.
In most units, the impeller is located on the top of the cleaner and can be accessed by removing one screw. If the impeller is clogged, it will stop the robot from running. If the power supply turns on but the cleaner doesn`t move, check the tracks and brushes to make sure there are no obstructions.
2. My Dolphin`s power supply turns on, but the Dolphin does not move: • If the Dolphin doesn`t move at all, there could be a problem with your cable. Take it to your local-authorized, Maytronics dealer for testing or call Maytronics Customer Service.
If your Hayward pool vacuum becomes too slow to clean your pool effectively, the vacuum likely has a blockage or the shoes and wings need to be replaced. Shoes and wings have wear indicators for determining when they require replacement.
If your robot doesn`t have a handle, or the robot still isn`t climbing or cleaning the waterline, make sure the robot has enough cable to allow it to climb the wall – the cable can pull the robot back if there`s not enough of it!
Robotic pool cleaners like the Dolphin Premier (available at Amazon) make it easy to clean above- and in-ground pools, traversing pool surfaces, floors, and walls with a set of rubber treads.
If your robot doesn`t have a handle, or the robot still isn`t climbing or cleaning the waterline, make sure the robot has enough cable to allow it to climb the wall – the cable can pull the robot back if there`s not enough of it!
Cleaning the filter cartridge after every use maximizes the unit`s performance. If the TigerShark has trouble climbing the pool walls during the middle of the cleaning cycle, clean the filter and resume cleaning. Replace worn brushes (#12) to ensure maximum cleaning performance.
If TigerShark cannot climb pool walls:

Clean the filter. It may be clogged or too heavy from excessive debris. Brushes may be worn. Inspect brushes and replace if worn.

ANSWER : Mabey the gears in the backup valve a small football in line about 18″ from wall. Just pull it from the water if you have one that is about every one to two munites it should send a jet of water out the side of the backup valve for about ten or fifteen seconds. Ray Vac Pool Cleaner for Inground Concrete: after cleaning out debris from my ray vac my jandy…
ANSWER : What model is it? Is it robotic (indepentdent of your pump and filter)? If it is attached to your pump system, it could be the cord getting tangled and causing the pool cleaner to move in circles. You might want to consider running it when you are available to watch it or getting a robotic cleaner that you can set to operate at certain times. You might just need to check the hose for defects that would cause it tangle.

I have the problem of the circling Ray Vac. And I haven’t seen any solutions here. What’s wrong, and what do I have o do to fix it?
ANSWER : PRESSURE is King. After taking apart my entire Ray-Vac and hoses, nothing seemed to fix my circling problem. I finally performed a full cleaning of all my mechanicals, especially the paper filter. I noticed a significant improvement in my water pressure and my Ray-Vac starting running all over the pool again doing her job like she used to. So, the Ray-Vac is very sensitive to water/jet pressure. Check your filter system. You want the most pressure you can get of out jet where you connect the Ray-Vac. This completely solved my problem.
