My Northstar Honda GC190 pressure washer pulsates. I have to pull the choke out 1/2 to 3/4 to keep it running…???

Surging occurs when the pressure is fine and then weakens. It is caused when the flow rate for the pump cannot be supported by the water supply. Problems can mount from there so it is important that it is dealt with as soon as possible.
Pressure may decrease if your packing is worn out or if there are abrasives or severe cavitation (bubbles) in the pumped fluids. This can be caused by an inadequate amount of water and/or a lack of proper filtration. To fix, install the proper filter.
The pressure washer vibrates excessively and is too much noisy > the water inlet filter may be responsible for it: if dirty, simply clean it.
The number one cause of pump surge or pulsing is your classic air leak. The more pressure your pump creates, the easier it is for air to get sucked through even the smallest leaks. And since air poses less resistance than water, it will get sucked by the pump instead of water, causing the pump to pulse.
Usually, well water pulsates when there isn`t enough air pressure in the tank. The two parts that regulate this pressure are the electric pressure switch and the internal air bladder inside the water tank. If either of them is malfunctioning, this can cause the water from your taps to pulsate rather than flow steadily.
It can be caused by various factors, fuel injection problems, bad spark plugs, a malfunctioning air sensor, might be a dirty air filter, and troubles with the engine control. Other issues of the fuel ignition system can also trigger surging when stopped.
How Do I Tell If My Unloader Valve is Bad? In most occurrences, the first symptom of an unloader valve going bad is no pressure from the wand when the trigger is pressed. This happens when the unloader valve gets stuck open and does not allow water to enter the hose and trigger.
There could be small leaks, holes, or tears in your garden hose or high-pressure hose that are causing your pressure washer to lose pressure when you pull the trigger. If you find leaks, plug the holes or replace the hose, which should solve your pressure issues.
Pulsation generally occurs when a liquid`s motive force is generated by reciprocating or peristaltic positive displacement pumps. It is most commonly caused by the acceleration and deceleration of the pumped fluid. This uncontrolled energy appears as pressure spikes.

The pump may turn on and off several times with very short pauses causing a pulsing sound. This is part of normal operation.

ANSWER : If the pressure washer is pulsating then that is a sign of check valve failure. You may be able to clean of replace the check valves. Replacing the head is the wrong way to go. ANSWER : Could be low water pressure I have found.Also, I purchased a can of “stuff” at Lowes today which allows you to circulate a liquid substance which lubricates the pressure pump….the pump could be frozen up…I have a rotating nozzle which I bought…and it had frozen up…this stuff works

Pulsating when idle
ANSWER : The motor doesn’t pulsate when you are spraying and pulsattes when not spraying is normal otherwise the pressure will just keep building and burn out the pump. However, if you are not using the sprayer right away then the unit should be shut off until your ready to start again.

Pressure washer is pulsating when powered on
ANSWER : It just the presure building back up ,it will last years doing this,i would not worrie as replacing the presure pump will only be a temp fix and it will do it again ,most washes do this after a year or lots of use.

ANSWER : Sounds like the unloader (regulator). Try removing the nozzle, the pull the trigger with the engine running. If motor is still running then it could be the Unloader malfunctioning. If you require a new one try a bypass system for the unloader. The bypass will help save the life of the unloader.

Kranzle electric washer will not suck up soap
ANSWER : Hi, if it has a chemical injector on the machine then the pressure at the lance will have to be lowered for it to pull in soap. it works on a similar principle to how carburetors on cars pull in fuel, bernouli principle. high pressure at one side of an orifice going to low pressure at the other side which causes a negative pressure ( vacuum) which should pull in the soap. there should be a non return valve at the orifice (hole) which prevents the water back feeding into the soap container, it is quite common for this valve to get stuck, it is just a ball, spring and o ring , and the ball sticks to the o ring. if it is this system then take the soap pick up pipe off the injector and just push the ball off it’s seat with a bit of wire.If it is a high pressure soap system then that is different, but they usually work with an injector in my experience.try taking the high pressure hose off the front off the machine and running it, if it has an injector on it it should pull in plenty off soap.hope this helps ,andy

Has no pressure, builds up when not holding trigger on gun, but when i press trigger shoots of with pressure the nothing just water comes out.
