Black Max 2600 PSI Pressure Washer
I turned it over once and it ran for 2 minutes then cut off. I cannot get it to start again. It has gas and I added some more oil. Could I have added too much oil? Any suggestions…
How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
When the power washer does not turn on, it is either due to no water flow or no electricity going to the power washer. In other words, either a water or electrical problem.
Stale fuel that`s been sitting in a gas pressure washer may need to be cleaned out. If your gas-powered Generac, DeWalt, or Craftsman power washer won`t start, it could be because of old fuel. Fuel that`s been sitting in your gas pressure washer for 6 months or more can oxidize and become contaminated.
Begin isolating the problem by hooking a water hose to the washer`s inlet and turning it on. If water flows out the outlet, you know water is cycling through. If not, chances are your inlet filter is clogged. Remove and clean it, and you should be good to go.
The Fuse. If the pressure washer does not start, then the first thing to check is the fuse in the plug. The reading you`re looking for is the same as it would be when connecting the two probes of the multimeter together (as you can see in the example of this video, this fuse is actually fine).
Pressure Washer Won`t Start: Fouled or Defective Spark Plug
The spark plug ignites the air/fuel mixture. A dirty, cracked or defective spark plug will keep your pressure washer from firing up. Replace the spark plug, don`t clean it. Replacing the spark plug should be part of your annual maintenance routine.
These include a clogged nozzle, a blocked inlet water filter, or a malfunctioning pump. It could even be the water supply itself – not the pressure washer. When troubleshooting pressure washers, the best approach is to check the easiest solution first and rule it out before proceeding to more intensive repairs.
This thing is powerful. I was able to clean my large driveway in under 2 hours, something that took me over 4 with my old electric pressure washer. The unit is well built and solid. I also like that it comes with 4 nozzles so you can get the right spray type for what you will be cleaning.
There are a variety of reasons as to why your pressure washer may not start. Some of these include, a dirty air filter, lack of or old fuel, problems with the spark plug wire`s connection or a bad spark plug, water in the fuel or an excessively rich fuel mixture, or the choke is in the ON position.
To reset the electronic controls on your washer, shut off the circuit breaker or fuse to the washer or unplug the washer for 2 minutes. For models that have a timer control knob, turn the knob around and back to any position other than final spin for the interrupted cycle. Then, restore power.

Have you checked for spark? You can remove the plug, touch it against the block and crank it and see if you have any spark (best done in as dark a place as possible). If you don’t have spark, start by replacing the plug.
If you have spark, you can spray some starter fluid or gas into the cylinder, replace the plug and try to start it. If it runs for a few second, then you have fuel flow problem (dirty carb or filter, etc.).
Hope these basic tips get you going in the right direction.
My Honda 2600 psi power washer will not pull to start. It was running great then I allowed the neighbor to borrow it. He ran the washer till it was out of gas and proceeded to refuel and at this point it would no longer start. The pull cord is out about 4-6 inches out and I am concerned about taking the casing off myself.
Fearing that it may throw more off on the unit. If i take the casing off are there any spring loaded parts that will dismount?
What should I do? Spark Plug? Turn wrenches?
Please let me know
You should be fine to take the recoil off, there shouldn’t be anything that shoots out at you. You might want to check the oil level on the engine, many of the Honda engines won’t start unless there is enough oil in them. If your oil level is fine, check to make sure that your motor is getting spark.

Mower won’t start
This may sound stupid but don’t mean it to…
Have you tried with the choke all the way open? Do you have an automatic cruise? Is the right (correct) pedal being pushed in? These will affect if it starts or not. Also if your drive belt or one of the other belts not being tight enough will affect if it starts or just turns over. Not too many things can stope it from starting with new/good battery AND if its getting gas. Try cleaning your gas line and obviously making sure there is no obstruction around or near your blade, if it does start with blade engaged that is :))
If it doesn’t start with blade engaged, well make sure it’s in neutral. Mine won’t start in reverse but will in forward or neutral.
Hope it helps.
The pull cord will not pull..I can’t start the engine. What can I do?
Remove the spark plug and see if it will then turn over. If it does then the motor is not seized or has water or fluid it is trying to compress. If the above lets it turn over freely the problem lies with the cord being trapped on the pully that is spring loaded. This task is better investigated by someone with experience to avoid losing parts and not beoing able to reassemble.
My power washer wouldn’t start. I replaced the spark plug and it started right up. but spray was a bit sporadic and then it began billowing thick white smoke and stopped running?
White smoke IS NOT fuel related. you twit! white smoke indicates oil consumption. they let anyone answer these things
