Typically, however, on vertical shaft engines, the oil drain plug is located beneath the engine block near the crankshaft. To remove the square plug, all that is required is a standard size 3/8″ ratchet and extension (no socket).
You should be able to see and reach a large nut or plug located under the oil pan at the bottom of the engine (see Figure 13-6). This is the oil drain plug.
Look under the car and locate the drain plug: It is a large nut or plug located under the oil pan (large tank) at the bottom of the engine.
One way to remove the gas is to use either a hose to siphon off the gas or a baster/pipette to remove the gas from the lawn mower gas tank to a gas can. Alternatively, the fuel line connecting the fuel tank to the carburetor can be disconnected at the carburetor and fuel emptied into a gas can.
Your car`s oil drain plug has a very important, if often underrated job. The plug, which sits at the bottom or side of the oil pan, is charged with keeping your motor`s vital life blood — its lubricant — from pouring out due to the constant effects of both gravity and the pressure that`s generated inside the crankcase.
If your engine is equipped with a drain plug, it would be located under the lawn mower deck. Look carefully as the drain plug may be obstructed by clumps of turf or debris, the belt guard or the mower blade (use caution when moving the blade).
The oil sump is generally bolted on at the lowest point of the engine, below the crank mechanism on the crankcase. It features an oil drain plug, the opening of which in the oil sump allows the oil to drain out when changed.
Pop the hood and locate the dipstick, which tells you if your oil level is optimal or too low. The dipstick is typically at the top front of the hood near the engine and/or oil filter.
Place a 3/8-inch (0.9 centimeters) socket in the socket wrench, fit it over the drain plug`s nut and turn it counterclockwise. The oil drain plug should open easily, draining the used oil from the engine. Make sure to place a bucket and some newspaper under the car`s engine to catch all the draining oil.

What oil weight do I get for my Poulan P3314?
ANSWER : If we are talking about oil for the chain, it is an oil with a non fling addative to lubricate the bottom of the bar, not just throw off the end, if this is not available, then as thick an oil as you can find, if we are talking about two stroke oil, then purchase a good named oil meant for use in chainsaws, not out boards.
