Poulan leaf blower runs fine when cool when first started, but as it warms up it loses rpms and power.
You need to adjust the carb set screw most likely out 1/4 of a turn.
How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
If your leaf blower engine is lacking power, it could be due to a blocked air filter. A plugged air filter will restrict air flow into the engine, reducing power and performance. Changing the air filter is an easy fix, and should solve this issue.
The fuel filter might be clogged. A clogged fuel filter is most commonly caused by leaving old fuel in the leaf blower. Over time, some of the ingredients in the fuel may evaporate, leaving behind a thicker, stickier substance. This sticky fuel can clog the fuel filter and cause the engine to stall.
Leaf Blower Won`t Start When It`s Hot
Firstly, there may be a pressure build up due to evaporating fuel in the fuel tank – Users have reported that this can be solved simply by opening the fuel cap. Secondly, the fuel may have gone stale, causing blockages – refer to the section Fuel above, if this is the case.
If your leaf blower does not blow air, it is possible that debris has been sucked into the blower housing, impeding the impeller from doing its job. If the impeller is loose or the blades of the impeller are damaged or broken off, it can also cause the blower to become unable to blow air.
A plugged or improperly adjusted carburetor can cause your leaf blower to start, but then immediately die. Over time, especially if fuel has been left in the leaf blower for a long period, some of the fuel will evaporate and you will be left with a thick, sticky substance that can ultimately clog the carburetor.
Dirty Air Filters So, the furnace is triggered to stop, then it cools down only to fire back up again. This short cycling continues to repeat until the furnace receives the airflow it needs. Dirty air filters are one of the most common reasons behind furnace short cycling.
The spark arrestor is a small screen that prevents the engine from emitting sparks. Over time, the spark arrestor can become clogged with soot. If the spark arrestor is clogged, the engine may stall. To unclog the spark arrestor, remove it and clean it with a wire brush.
What you may be experiencing is that, when accelerating, the intake manifold vacuum is decreased. Vacuum is used to change the vents from defrost to dash to floor. With a loss of vacuum, the system defaults to the defrost position.
If your carburetor is clogged, it can cause your leaf blower`s engine to die when the choke is disengaged. You can disassemble it, clean it, and replace individual parts with a carb kit. Once your carburetor has been unclogged, cleaned, and re-assembled using the carb kit, the engine should run with the choke off.
Similar to other components in an HVAC system, the blower motor will become more vulnerable to mechanical failures as it experiences more wear and tear over time. If your air conditioner is aging and becoming increasingly problematic, there`s a good chance the motor is in trouble.
Maintenance of gas powered leaf blowers produces toxic waste like fuel filters and contaminated air filters. Blowers erode, compact and dry out soil and harm plants, microorganisms and pollinators.
