Hello, I have a Poulan Gas Hedge Trimmer GHT220.It shuts off on me after anywhere from 5-15 minutes of operation.Then it usually takes a few hours of cool down, before it will run again.I have tried cleaning the air intake, and exhaust, and changed the spark plug a few times.but nothing seems to help this problem.(I tried today to check the spark plug for a spark during this shut down period.I removed the plug, but kept it connected to the wire. Then I placed one side of the plug againstthe metal structure of the spark plug hole, and pulled the cord. so far I have not seen any sparks)This has

My hedge trimmer will not start… Put in new gas
ANSWER : It’s not getting gas, due to being gummed up with old gas. Remove all of the old gas and mix up a batch of fresh gas&oil. Also get some carb cleaner. Put just a little of the gas&oil mix plus an equal part carb cleaner. Try to start it just to work the new mixture through the carb. You might use the spray start to help pull the new gas through. If it fires up on the new gas&oil&carbcleaner mix, shut it off and let it sit for an hour or two. Drain it out and try just a little gas&oiil without the carb cleaner. If all is well fill the tank. If not, repeat the whole process. If you can’t clear the gum this way you may have to remove the carb to clean it.

How to sharpen stihl gas power trimmer
ANSWER : Sharpen with a flat file. Its a long process as each tooth has 2 cutting edges. There are companies that will do this properly at cost.

Blades wont move when power connected. Stripped it down. Motor is fine. I think it must be the gears attached to the blade unit
ANSWER : Either the gears, OR SOME machines have a “CENTRIFUGAL CLUTCH” [a safety feature] between the engine and the blades.
IF your machine has this feature, then it’s possible that the clutch has worn out and is slipping so badly that the blade won’t move.
