Poulan Chainsaw 3816. The bar oil comes out very fast and leaks out. I’ve taken off the bar, chain, and cover so after starting it up I can see the bar oil coming out of a hole.

Sounds like the small oil feed pipe inside oil tank as come away from the end. just push it back on you may need a pair of long snout pillers.. good luck

What causes a chainsaw to leak oil? As the oil is pumped from the tank through to the guide bar, air begins to replace the space where the oil was previously stored. If there isn`t proper ventilation of the oil tank, a vacuum can occur and reduce the flow of oil to the guide bar.
In all but very exceptional cases there is nothing wrong with the chainsaw and what appears to be an oil leak is simply oil that has sprayed from the chain as it rotates at high speed, draining from the saw body and guide bar.
It`s normal to have a few oil drips a few hours after an oil change. However, any more than that, and you`ll need to determine where the leak is coming from. There are several ways to determine if the leak is coming from the drain plug, such as the gasket part being worn or dirty.
Cracked Gasket: The Core Culprit in Most Engine Oil Leaks
Since the gasket can no longer seal in the oil properly, it drips and spills out underneath your car – depleting engine oil levels slowly over time and leaving you with those shining puddles on the asphalt.
Leaking Oil Filter
The filter is one of the most common causes of an oil leak. Ideally, the oil filter should be replaced with every oil change. If you change your oil at home, you may forget this important step or the new filter may not be installed properly.
Most commonly, this happens when the oil pan gasket or valve cover gasket are over-tightened. It can also happen when tightness is not evenly distributed. Another reason can be the improper attachment of the oil filter, as the engine oil flows continuously through it, and if it`s loose, you can experience a leak there.
As I`ve mentioned before, a few drops of oil leaking from your chainsaw is normal, as long as its coming from the chain. While you are using your chainsaw, the oil pump mechanism delivers a steady flow of bar oil to the chain. The chain then spreads this oil around the entire guide bar.
If too much oil is being applied to the chain and bar, it could pick up debris more easily, which could make the chainsaw cut less efficiently and also pose a safety risk as the debris is more likely to fly off the chainsaw at any time.
Symptoms include: over reving, overheating, stalling on acceleration, failure to idle, and worst of all, an engine seizure if the problem is neglected. When an air leak occurs, it often puzzles users and even some saw shop technicians because the symptoms of an air leak are varied.
Fork seals leak from normal wear and tear, age, and debris getting into the seals. Imperfections and nicks in the chrome can also make your fork seals leak. However, the majority of the time your fork seals are leaking it`s simply because debris is caught in the seal holding it open and allowing fork oil to sneak by.

Poulan 14″ gas leaks bar oil all over, plenty on bar/chain, using thin synthetic oil.
ANSWER : Use actual bar oil sold for that purpose. It’s thicker and won’t run out like water. Synthetic oil is very thin does not have the proper density.

Leaks bar oil
ANSWER : The chainsaw squirts oil into the oil hole in the bar. The chain picks up the oil and carries it all the way around the bar lubing it and the chain. When you quit running the saw there is still a lot of oil on the chain and all away around the chain guide in the bar. Once you quit running it and it sets a while all the oil will follow gravity and run to the bottom of the bar and drip out into the case. It’s just another one of life’s little nuisances. ANSWER : Are you sure you aren’t talking about the chain oiler system? There is to be a small amount of oil to lubricate the bar and chain.

Ms 170 leaks bar chain oil out bottom, no oil on chain
ANSWER : Your clutch drum bearing has gone bad, letting the clutch drum to move around and cut into the oiler behind it, so now it just pumps the oil out that hole. You have to get that fixed to use the saw, otherwise you’re going to cause catastrophic damage to the saw very soon.
