My 2000 magnum 500 is not getting power, the battery is fine, it turns over, has great compression, it doesn't seem to be a mechanical problem, but there is no power going to anything, not the neutral lights, the headlights, nothing. Previous owner said rats chewed through the cables, when checked all cables were fine except for the ignition for the 4×4 which wasn't chewed through it was cut. Any ideas what this could be?

The power fuse box is located under the driver`s seat. Remove the engine access panel to access the fuse box.
The battery is the most common reason why an ATV or UTV won`t start. First, look at it and make sure the battery isn`t corroded. If it is, try cleaning it with a scrubbing pad, water, and baking soda. If you can get it clean, try to start the machine again.
The number one reason an ATV clicks and doesn`t start is the battery, so you should troubleshoot that first. If your battery is functioning correctly, the next common source is the starter solenoid or a bad starter motor. Occasionally you could have hydro-locked your engine, or the fuses have failed.
Possible causes of a power failure could be either bad battery connections, a bad ignition switch, or a bad alternator. What you need to do is check your vehicle`s power sources.
The stator is like the alternator in your car, it makes it so the battery can recharge while the ATV is running. This is crucial to proper battery function, and your ATV will stop running if the stator is bad. It isn`t an intermittent problem or a slight problem, it`s an, “I can`t ride my ATV,” problem.
Polaris Predator 500 top speed is a respectable 73 MPH in stock condition.
Usually a rapid clicking noise is a good indication that your starter motor isn`t getting enough electrical current to engage – basically your solenoid is trying to engage but can`t make the connection.
This is important – if the starter motor sounds like it`s turning over, as usual, your issue is probably the battery. If the engine cranks but doesn`t start, it could be having trouble producing a spark, getting fuel, or creating compression.
After unplugging all the devices, switch on or reset the circuit breaker. If you don`t hear the click sound or the breaker trips again immediately, you are probably looking at a faulty breaker. But if it remains reset, you should check for a circuit overload or short circuit.
The battery can be fully charged but still not be able to start the vehicle if it is failing or has a dead cell. Other likely issues are the fuel pump, ignition switch, battery cables, starter, or a clogged fuel filter.
The cause of this problem is usually one of 3 things – a failed starter motor, a bad connection between the battery and starter motor, or a blown fuse (if present) in line between the starter and the battery.
