We were using it worked just fine then alot of oil came out of the air filter

Two possabilitys here, either it has been over filled with oil, or more likley it has been tipped up, when tipped oil will travel up the crankcase breather and into the back of the filter housing, if the paper filter is now soaked with oil it will have to be replaced.

It is caused by excessive carbon deposits or engine sludge developing inside the crankcase. When the oil does not flow efficiently, excessive engine oil pressure will be created and cause extra oil to push through the PCV valve and into the air intake.
Why Is the Air Filter In Your Lawn Mower Soaked in Oil? The air filter in your lawn mower is soaked in oil because it was flipped over on the wrong side, the crankcase is overfilled, the head gasket is blown or worn out, you are mowing on sloped land, or the air filter is oversaturated, among other reasons.
When you`re dealing with a turbocharged or supercharged engine, a small amount of oil in the air intake is usually considered normal. But an excessive accumulation of oil indicates a problem, such as faulty turbocharger/supercharger seals or an obstructed turbocharger return line.
Gas leaks around the air filter usually indicate problems with valves inside your engine and how it is processing gas.
In an extreme case, the air filter will be so damaged that it will fail to prevent particles from entering the combustion chamber. Such particles are abrasive to the pistons, piston rings and cylinder walls, and will gradually increase engine wear and oil consumption, and also contaminate the oil.
Most commonly, this happens when the oil pan gasket or valve cover gasket are over-tightened. It can also happen when tightness is not evenly distributed. Another reason can be the improper attachment of the oil filter, as the engine oil flows continuously through it, and if it`s loose, you can experience a leak there.
The oil helps to trap more of the smaller particulate without sacrificing airflow. This gives the oiled filter a bit of a leg up over the dry flow in terms of performance, though the difference is probably not something you`d be able to feel.
In addition to helping form ozone, VOC emissions from the oil and gas industry include air toxics such as benzene, ethylbenzene, and n-hexane, also come from this industry. Air toxics are pollutants known, or suspected of causing cancer and other serious health effects.
If the air filter is dirty, it can prevent air from properly flowing through the HVAC system. This can result in moisture getting trapped inside the system that can form ice crystals that buildup within the evaporator coils and on the air filter itself. These crystals can then melt and leak out of the furnace.
An oil filter leaking can damage your engine and impact your car`s performance. Ignore this issue for too long and it has the potential to become a serious threat to your vehicle and therefore your safety. The best course of action is to immediately investigate and put a stop to the leak.

ANSWER : Check your oil level in the engine, normally if oil starts coming out of the air filter, it means you have too much oil in the crankcase.
Drain your crankcase to make it the right level, be sure to check you oil level in the engine on level ground.

Dont know what type of oil to use – Toro Power Lawn Mower
ANSWER : Put straight 30 weight motor oil in it. Not 10W30 or any multi-viscosity oil. Straight 30 weight motor oil. If you’re doing a complete oil change, then you may want to use Synthetic 30 weight, which will last longer between oil changes and also make your engine last longer (but it costs more too). I borrowed my nieghbors power washer. It worked the first day all day. In the morning i filled the gas with a fuel stabiler, and 30 oil. I may have over filled it. Upon turning it on the oil started leaking from the air filetr compartment. It starts, but then smokes starts to fume and all the oil leaks. Did I break it or is it a easy fix. I cleaned the filter housing. Also the filter was soaked with oil. should i get a new filter and install it or what is the solution. need help.
ANSWER : You will need to get a new filter, and drain some of the oil out of the machine. If you over fill these this will happen. 90% of the time nothing is broken.

I have a 7 hp B&G craftsman Pressure washer , if I place an air filter on it ,it wound’t start or run , if I remove the air filter it would run like a champ, but after 10 mints , oil would shoot out off the carb like a running faucet , why is it not running with the filter on,.Now am not so sure if the air filter is the correct size , because when I put it on it seem to be a bit on the taller size rather than a perfect fit, thanks for your help , in Hollywood , Reinaldo Roman .
ANSWER : First,It sounds like the air filter is full of dirt preventing air from flowing through, starving the engine of air.As for the oil shooting through, are you certain the oil is coming from teh carb?. Makes no sense the engine would run if it also shoots oil out the carb. There is nothing in the engine that would cause this, assuming it’s a gasoline engine. And I am not sure a diesel would do this either.

ANSWER : Bar & chain oil is the best. You can use regular or synthetic. Some say you can use atf (auto transmission fluid) or sae30 oil. I use bar & chain oil.
