e steering wheel it shuts off!! WHY???
Garden
Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
There is a shorted wire that is being pinched somewhere in the stearing. When you turn the wheel the wire is shorting and the engine will die. Any wire you can find, trace it from the engine back and look to see if the wire is being pinched or stretched anywhere. It might help to turn the steering wheel while your looking, see if any of the wires move while turning.
How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
The reasons why mower is not moving forward or reverse is that the battery is dead, or due to clogged fuel line. Additionally, malfunctioning transmission, or a broken drive belt, also a faulty spark plug, even when friction wheel isn`t in contact with the friction plate, or damaged Tires.
The spark plugs are worn or damaged If you find that your lawnmower keeps dying, or keeps stalling while cutting grass, then inspect the spark plugs. Look for signs of damage or wear. Something as simple as a cracked porcelain insulator can mean an electrode has been damaged or burned away.
Grinding gears, starting and stopping during operation, and the wheels not rotating with the pulley are common signs that your mower`s transmission is breaking down.
You Lose Power in the Middle of Mowing:
Here`s why this happens and what you can do: Dirty Air Filter on Your Lawn Mower: Clean or replace. Dirty Spark Plug: Clean or replace. Build Up of Clippings & Debris: Clean underside of your lawn mower deck as noted above.
A full gas tank and oil reservoir are the essential first steps when checking why the lawn mower won`t stay running, but the problem could also be a dirty filter, clogged carburetor, improper fuel mixture, or a dirty spark plug.
As the fuel level drops, a vacuum begins to form in the fuel tank because air can get in to fill the space the consumed fuel occupied. After about 10 or 15 minutes, the vacuum will become strong enough that fuel will stop flowing to the carburetor and the lawnmower will die.
If the engine will idle but dies at full throttle the main jet in the carburetor may be plugged. You can repair a plugged main jet by cleaning it, replacing the jet, or replacing the carburetor. If you choose to clean or replace the main jet, you will also want to clean the rest of the carburetor.
Being Overworked. One of the most common reasons that a lawn mower might stall while it is cutting grass is that it is being overworked. This is a mechanism that is intentionally incorporated into the mower to prevent the motor from being blown.
What If You Tilt Your Mower The Wrong Way? Don`t panic it`s not that big a deal. If you tilted your mower the wrong way, just tilt it onto its four wheels again and clean up any spilled gas. Oil and gas may have made their way to the air filter, and saturated it.

ANSWER : The piston rings are probably worn in the motor.
Our snapper shuts off after 15 or 20 minutes, does start back up after it cools – what do you think?
ANSWER : Could be the coil. Once it gets hot it shorts out and shuts the engine down then cools off and works again. OR it could be that the fuel cap doesn’t vent and allow air into the gas tank causing a vacuum lock so fuel won’t flow out of the tank. Just need to clean the fuel cap vent holes. Test for spark right away when it shuts down and still hot to find out if it is the coil. If the spark is gone when hot and normal when cold then it is the coil.

ANSWER : Two things:
1 Is fuel coming out of the fuel line. Older mowers have old fuel lines and they tend to get weak and collapse went they warm up with engine heat. Replace the old fuel line.
2 deposits in the carb. take off the air cleaner, start it up and spray a good carb cleaner in the carb until the engine dies. Put some ‘seafoam’ in the gas and a little in the oil and put the air cleaner back on and start the mower and mow on FULL THROTTLE. this should claen out the carb. Yes the mower will run rough for awhile.
these two cheap fixes will solve 85 % of carb problems. GOOD LUCK
Why do i keep fouling da spark plug? i remove it clean it and it runs about 15 or 20 seconds and stallsand plug is bkack and fouled AGAIN
ANSWER : Sounds like you are burning a lot of oil or you used two cycle fuel instead of regular gasoline. If you used the wrong fuel, drain tank and carburetor and it will clear up pretty quick. If you used the right fuel, did you overfill the oil? If oil level is where it should be, and the right fuel was used, then the alternatives from there fall into the not so good catagory, and they all involve at least some amount of engine disassembly.Good luck.
Will start and run for a while then quits.
