. Has the pump gone?
4000 PSI 36 GPM Gas Pressure Washer G 4000 OH

Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
In this case it sounds as though either your unloader valve has failed, the water seals have failed or the check valves in the pump need replaced. Unfortunately there are no tests that can be done on this unit to verify which component has failed because it uses an integrated unloader valve. The only way to tell which component has failed will be a visual inspection of the internals of the pump by a trained service technician.Sincerely,Aron KerrLanda Northwestwww.landanw.com

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

A 4000 PSI pressure washer is ideal for heavy equipment, concrete surfaces, brick walls, construction sites, stripping paint and lifting oil stains. Again, a 4000 PSI pressure washer should not be used on house siding; 4000 PSI is strong enough to cause some serious damage!

When choosing a pressure washer, PSI and GPM are both equally important. The PSI refers to the amount of pressure produced and GPM refers to the amount of water flow. Each SIMPSON pressure washer is designed to have the correct combination of PSI and GPM to have the most effective cleaning experience for your needs.
The 3000 psi machine can put out 5 gpm while the 4000 psi machine has to be cut back to 3.5 to 4gpm in flow. The 3000 psi machine has 14.4 (lb) of impact force which relates to 10 to 20% faster cleaning than the 4000 psi while using a similar amount of horsepower and fuel.
4000 psi is enough to cut your arm off with water. That`s pretty much it.
As mentioned earlier, we recommend using a pressure washer that`s capable of at least 3,000-4,000 PSI. This range is a good middle ground between too powerful and not powerful enough.
PSI can`t be directly converted to GPM; these are two different units of measure. PSI measures pressure and GPM measures flow rate. But if other variables are known, the water`s flow rate in GPM can be calculated with the help of the Bernoulli equation for incompressible fluid and careful unit conversion.
Federal standards mandate that for water conservation purposes, all bathroom faucets sold in the U.S. after 1994 have to have a flow rate of no more than 2.2 GPM at a water pressure of 60 psi (pounds per square inch). According to the same law, showerheads may have a maximum flow rate of 2 GPM.
So if there is a shower running that uses 2 gpm, the washing machine which uses 3 gpm is running, and the kitchen sink is running at 3 gpm, which means 8 of 12 gallons are currently being used. This can often lead to lower “water pressure” because the flow rate simply can`t keep up.
The main difference is that power washing uses highly pressurized steam to do the cleaning while pressure washing just uses unheated tap water, without the help of a heating element.
Concrete cleaning calls for powerful pressure washers featuring high pressure levels of 3000 PSI. However, if you will be using the power cleaner to maintain a range of surfaces in addition to concrete, choose one with adjustable pressure levels and set it to about 3000 PSI when you need to clean concrete.
Mid-Range Power: 2,000 to 3,200 PSI

The most versatile category of pressure washers, those ranging from 2,000 to 3,200 PSI effectively clean cars (including the most well-used off-road vehicles), home siding, fences, boats and grimy garage floors. Those closer to 3,200 PSI work effectively on tough stains, too.

Pounds per square inch (psi) measures the compressive strength of concrete. A higher psi means a given concrete mixture is stronger, so it is usually more expensive.
The average human bite force is between 120-160 PSI (pounds per square inch).
5,000 PSI. Used in special construction applications, including some large-scale commercial and industrial properties, 5,000 PSI can withstand heavy impact and extreme wear and tear.
Powerful pressure washers with too much PSI will damage concrete when power washing. Most residential driveways require no more than 3000 to 3500 PSI for proper and thorough concrete washing. Heavy-duty commercial pressure washers and other power washing equipment are too strong for the average residential driveway!
Due to the potential risks, Consumer Reports recommends not pressure washing your car. Among the biggest concerns, high PSI can strip off or scratch the paint, leading rust to penetrate the metal.
Road grime and oily buildup splash up on the engine, coating it black with filth. But you can blast it all away with a pressure washer. Maybe you`ve wondered “can you pressure wash a car engine?” and the answer is yes.
Concrete footings and slabs on grade typically require a concrete of 3,500 to 4,000 psi. Suspended slabs, beams, and girders (as often found in bridges) require 3,500 to 5,000 psi. Traditional concrete walls and columns tend to range from 3,000 to 5,000 psi, while 4,000 to 5,000 psi is needed for pavement.
Although many electric pressure washers produce a pressure of about 1900 psi, you should only use a water pressure of 1500 psi or lower on your car.
To get the job done right, you need a pressure washer rated at least 3,000 PSI with a flow rate of at least four gallons per minute (GPM).

Oil appears to have come out of the oil filler cap. Is this a sign of overfilling the oil, or something else?
ANSWER : Id definitley say its over filled. try checking the dipstick

What oil do i use in the pump? The oil is milky and needs changing.
ANSWER : Well you can use direct recommended from Ace Hardware see link.

They recommend 250 hours, but i’d change more often, like you said when it’s milky. If it begins to get water in the oil sooner, that indicates your piston to crankcase seal is beginning to leak.

Pump oil leak where pump connects to engine
ANSWER : With that few hours, you need to return it as the seal shouldn’t leak. Probably was improper pump assembly, so you should take it back, because it will only get worse and fail. Hope this helps you, Rick

Lost high pressure
ANSWER : Piston rings defective. Replace. Possibly scored cylinder walls that may need to be resurfacing or replaced.

I bought a troybuilt pressure washer used and i changed the motor oil and ran it maybe 5 minutes.
later i checked the oil level again and it shot out the cap and i noticed the pump oil level is also almost to the top of sight glass. Does anyone know whats wrong?
ANSWER : If you left it sit for a while & did not turn the fuel tap off,it may have flooded and therefore the oil level would have risen causing the oil to over flow.

always turn the fuel tap off when not using your pressure wahser.

Why is my sand pump filter not cycling pool water; the intake line along pool wall seems to be clogged.
ANSWER : I had this issue on a hayward. Bottom line, look at the secondary filter on the intake. I had a huge amount of leaves in there. When you open it up clean the basket and let the water flow for a minute. Also, back wash your filter.

My intex sand filter will not move water when I put the lever to filter? It will move water when I put the lever to recirc but wont move water with filter…why?
ANSWER : Im gonna guess that you stored the filter improperly off season and now the sand charge is hard as cement inside not alowing water to get thru , left alone for a week or so it might loosen up , but the best thing is to dissasemble filter and remove all sand and ck “fingers” inside this is fastest way
i allways use RV antifreeze 30/1 to store any pumps or filters off season , RV type because its nontoxic

How to prime a sand filter pump – INTEX Sand Filter Pump
ANSWER : It depends on the pump but most pumps have a filter bowl with a screw on cover – you need to fill this with water and start the pump. if the pipework connected to the pump and the filter are empty you will usually have to repeat this process a few times, but once the pump is primed it should start up without repriming in future – Hope this helps – Nigel
