If your non-starting chainsaw is electric
If you have an electric chainsaw that won`t start, first make sure that the power cable is connected to the mains, then check whether the cable and plug are damaged. If they aren`t, the problem could lie in the motor which, for example, may have worn or damaged brushes.
It has an air-cooled two-stroke gasoline engine. The chain is driven by a centrifugal clutch. When the engine is idling, the clutch is disengaged. When the engine speeds up, the centrifugal plates in the clutch spin outward to engage the clutch, and the chain begins running.
Chain brakes prevent movement of the saw`s cutting chain by applying a steel brake band around the driven clutch drum. Clamping force for the brake band is provided by a powerful spring.
This most commonly is a result of a dull chain and exerting to much pressure on the bar and chain trying to make the chain saw cut. This could also be either a lack of bar and chain oil ( tank empty, restricted oiler hole ) or an inferior type of oil that is being slung off the chain and not lubricating.

It ultimately comes down to the factors listed above (especially maintenance). That being said, you can expect a quality chainsaw to last you at least 10 years or more. But if you take care of it, I know people who have saws that have lasted 20-30 years and even longer.
if you don`t have any spark then more than likely it is the ignition module failing on you you want to make sure first before you replace an ignition module. that you`ve checked all the electrical system on your chainsaw. and a good way to make sure that there`s no electrical problems on your chainsaw.

Kill switch doesn't work, how do i fix it? – Husqvarna 350 18 Inch Gas Chainsaw 52CC Fully Assembled Brand New 18"
ANSWER : The switch connects directly to the coil body of the ignition module. You may have to remove the left side cover to expose the ignition module. The switch, when off, connects this wire to engine ground. There may be debris in the contacts of the switch that prevent contact. You will have to remove the air cleaner assembly and maybe the carburetor itself to access the switch. Good luck!

McCullough chainsaw won't start – McCulloch Quality Mcc1435a 14" Gas 35cc 2 Cycle Chainsaw Full Warranty
ANSWER : If it’s a old saw..The seal goes out on the crank next to the clutch,it’s called a grease seal, it loses the suction needed to pull fuel in to the engine, can be a tricky one to replace, but will spark a old saw back to life. You may want to replace both crankshaft seals ..First try a few drops of gas down the carb, if it pops off you know it’s a fuel issue
