Rotary walk-behind lawn mowers are generally powered with gasoline and have engines that are two horsepower to seven horsepower. Riding lawn mowers, on the other hand, have 13 horsepower to 30 horsepower engines because they`re so much bigger and heavier.
To perform the procedure rotate the engine by hand, as soon as you see the exhaust valve begin to open adjust the intake valve. Once adjusted continue to rotate the engine until the intake valve opens entirely and just begins to close, now adjust your exhaust valve. That cylinder is now complete.
Position the dial indicator on the top of the exhaust-valve retainer and zero the dial indicator. Next depress the exhaust valve. Note the distance traveled. Now subtract the difference in the gasket thicknesses and you should have an accurate measurement of the piston-to-valve clearance.
Clearances differ for the two valves and typically range from . 002 – . 004″ to . 005 – .
Horsepower. The amount of horsepower you need depends on the width of the cutting deck. For lawn mowers with up to a 42-inch cutting deck, look for at least a 14-hp engine to adequately power the deck and the drive wheels. For a 42- to 46-inch cutting deck, a 14- to 16-hp engine will be ideal.
While riding mowers operate at somewhat higher speeds of 3,200 RPM to 3,600 RPM, push mowers typically remain at or around 3,000 RPM. The majority of four-stroke lawnmowers run in the 2,800 RPM to 3,600 RPM range.
Weight: 55 Tons, most of which is Chobham armor. Crew: 4—Commander, gunner, loader, and driver. Armament: 105mm gun (the M1A2 has a 120mm), each shell weighs about 40 lbs. Armor: The composite armor used in the M1 is Chobham (after Chobham, England, where it was developed) or code-named Burlington.
The engine weighs approximately 2,500 lb (1,100 kg) and occupies a volume of 40 cu ft (1.1 m3), measuring 63 in × 40 in × 28 in (1,600 mm × 1,020 mm × 710 mm). The engine can use a variety of fuels, including jet fuel, gasoline, diesel and marine diesel.
Small tanks can hold about 12 gallons, larger ones close to 15-20, and SUV or large truck tanks can accommodate 27 gallons. So, if we averaged out the capacity and fuel weight, we`d conclude that a full tank could weigh anywhere from 73 to 165 pounds, about the weight of a teenager.
To adjust hydraulic lifters two fingers spin the pushrod as the lock nut is gently tightened. When resistance is felt on the pushrod, that`s zero lash. The adjuster is tightened to specs then the setscrew locks it in place. When changing valvetrain components always check rocker arm geometry.

How do i adj the valves on a 23hp kawasaki ? – kawasaki Fh680vgs24 23hp 23 Hp Lawn Mower Engine Motor ()
ANSWER : You need to remove the rocker arm cover. Then most engines have a set screw and a locking nut that hold the valve rocker arm on. Loosen the locking nut and with a feeler gage make whatever adjustment you need (tighten or loosen) then holding the adjusting screw from turning, tighten the lock nut. It is not very hard to do and remember that they are all metric fasteners.

Engine spins but no fire to spark plugs – kawasaki Fh641v 21hp 21 Hp Riding Lawn Mower Engine ()
ANSWER : What is this engine mounted on? If it’s on a riding mower, you could have a problem in the interlock wiring that is “killing” the ignition. You can narrow down your search by disconnecting the ground wire that hooks to the ignition coil(s) and see if you have spark after that. If you have spark, then plug the wire back up and see if you lose it again. If you do lose it then you need to start troubleshooting the interlock circuit on the equipment. If you do not have fire with the ignition ground wire disconnected you then need to start looking at the engine ignition system. Hope this gets you in the right direction.
