How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
The division`s products, including engines, generators, lawn mowers, pumps, snow blowers, tillers, trimmers, and marine engines, are assembled in Honda plants in the United States and around the world.
Engine or motor size
A good sized engine for a gas powered tiller would be around 150cc`s or greater, a heavy 4-stroke engine will improve power and efficiency. For small gardens less than 1,500 square feet, a mini-tiller, sometimes called a cultivator with an electric or battery-powred motor should be sufficient.
The purpose of a lawn tiller is to break up hard and compact soil, whereas a garden cultivator like the Husqvarna T300RH petrol cultivator serves to mix up soil that is already loose and stir in compost or fertiliser so that it is ready for planting.
Worldwide, Honda makes engines in several different countries, including: Japan. China. Thailand.
Honda vehicles are created in state-of-the-art manufacturing plants located in Japan, Mexico, and the United States.
Consider this: A typical 5-ft rotary tiller with four tines can be run by a 25-hp tractor and the same 5-ft rotary tiller with six tines would need a 31-hp tractor to operate the tiller at peak performance. A 40-hp requirement jumps to nearly 50 hp with six tines.
How fast can I run the tiller? It depends on the conditions, but 2-3 mph is about the right speed. You may need to slow down if you start to notice material building in front of the machine.
Disadvantages of Power tiller tractors:
Power tiller Tractors are more expensive and less efficient than traditional tractors. They also have a shorter lifespan.
What lubricant should be used in the tiller transmission case? In the past the rule was: For partial fill-ups (a few ounces or less) use SAE 140, SAE 85W-140 or SAE 80W-90 weight gear oil with an API rating of GL-4 or GL-5. For full replacement use SAE 140 or SAE 85W-140 gear oil with an API rating of GL-4 only.

Where can I find parts for Honda mini-tiller FG100?
I have a Pro Hoe tiller with 4 cycle Honda engine. I just got started to till my garden plot when the tines stopped turning, like they were jammed. I stopped the engine and cleaned out the vines, string, etc that was wrapped around the tine shaft. It started right up, but the tines stop turning with slightest resistance. When I manually turn the tines it feels like something is grinding internally. Honda engine runs fine. I do not have a repair manual. Are they available. Does it sound like a transmission problem? Help! My seeds are waiting to get planted & sprout.
Must have burned the clutch, says to break it in slowly over a few uses.
Motor runs but the tines want turn – Honda 25cc 4-cycle Mini Tiller
Either the clutch is gone or the transmission gear is stripped. These need to be properly greased annually so that this happens less. The transmission replacement can be done but the dealer will charge you about what you paid for it ($250) or if you know someone handy they can order the parts here: http://www.planopower.com/store/honda/fg100.shtml and rebuild it for you. It would cost about $85 for a full transmission rebuild.
My Honda 160cc lawn mower engine cut out when I hit a large clump of grass. Now I cannot get it to start. Has always started with no problems. What to do?
Has probably broken flywheel key ….. putting it out of time
Tiller tines will not turn. Engine runs fine…
Well hopefully it’s not the transmission, as sometimes these tend to go. Another common but cheaper repair are the two bearings where the tines connect to the unit.
MORE THAN LIKELY.. The bearing is located above the worm gear housing, the part connected to the tines beneath the guard. This removal can be somewhat frustrating but if you remove it and remove the engine flange you’ll be able to manually spin the drive shaft and see if it’s the worm gear housing/lower bearings or if it’s the more likely bearing on the clutch drum or the clutch itself.
I need a worm wheel for a Honda minitiller FG100.
I bought the tine shaft w/worm gear kit from petessmallengine.com, and now it works as good as new! All for $57 bucks!
My mantis tiller with a honda gx22 engine starts then shuts off after approx. 30 sec.
If your unit has a primer bulb, start your engine . When it starts to die push your primer, if the engine comes back to life you have a carb issue.
FG110 Mini-Tiller stalls once it is warmed up.
After about 15 minutes of use it when stall and restart but won’t run under load.
Once this happens it needs to be inactive for about a month before
you can get 15 minutes out of it again and then the same stalling occurs.
The problem is that the fuel cap does not allow enough air to get into the fuel tank as the fuel is used. A vacuum is created and it stalls the engine. If you look at the cap from the inside you will see two small slots on each side of the black center piece. I took this apart and opened up those slots a little bit with a hack saw blade. This allows enough air to get into the tank to prevent a vacuum and the resulting engine stall.
