If you are using a drop spreader, such as Scott`s Classic Drop Spreader, and using a Yard Mastery granular fertilizer, you will want to set your spreader at a 7.
The spreader constant is the number of sensor pulses divided by per cubic foot of material discharged per revolution (CFR).
The first number is the amount of nitrogen (N), the second number is the amount of phosphate (P2O5) and the third number is the amount of potash (K2O).
Spreaders are used to evenly distribute fertilizer and grass seed across your lawn. There are two types: drop and broadcast, also known as a rotary spreader. There are two types of broadcast spreaders: walk-behind and hand-held.
RECOMMENDED SPREADER SETTINGS:
Scotts Broadcast/Rotary Spreaders – Set to 3 for reseeding, set to 4 1/2* for New Lawn or Bare Spot Repair. Scotts Drop Spreaders – Set to 5 for reseeding, set to 7 for New Lawn or Bare Spot Repair.
The three types of lawn spreaders are scoop-style spreaders, broadcast spreaders and handheld spreaders. Handheld spreaders distribute fertilizer, seeds or ice melt over small areas. Broadcast-type handheld spreaders have a small hopper, handle, dial and crank. Some models offer adjustable arm support.
Lawn fertiliser spreaders are essential tools for maintaining healthy turf. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes and can be used to apply any type of granular or liquid fertiliser. Different types of spreaders include rotary, drop, broadcast, mounted and handheld models—each designed with its own purpose in mind.
In general, the smaller you set your spreader setting the smaller the hole and the slower the material releases from the hopper. There are many different brands of spreaders on the market, and, new or old, it is highly recommended to properly calibrate your spreader before the first use in the spring.
If you want to use a manual process to find out the best estimate for your spreader setting, a good starting point is to consider the following: 1 lb per 1,000 sq ft = 43.6 lbs per acre. 100 lbs per acre = 2.5 lbs per 1,000 square feet.

Where is oil drain plug on MTD mower – Mtd LAWN MOWER PART # 683-04163B FRAME Assembly:RIDER
ANSWER : If it isn’t on the bottom of the engine (above the blade) then you don’t have one. This is not that uncommon. When you need to drain the oil, FIRST- pull the spark plug wire off!!! Then remove the dip stick or filler plug and turn the unit upside down and drain the oil.

ANSWER : My Scotts Deluxe Edgeguard has broken. The cable that pulls the fertilizer feed door open (when you sqeeze the lever) has sheared off where the cable meets the body. Is there some way to obtain the part(s) I need? What about a repair manual so I can figure out what part(s) are required?

Lawn mower cranck but wont start…
ANSWER : Since you already checked for spark and air I would drain all the fuel out of it and check that fuel for water. Over time some lawn mowers end up with contaminated fuel. You can see the water sitting on the bottom of the fuel if you let it stand for a bit in a small plastic bowl.
Be sure to empty and dry out you fuel can as well. Especially if the mower stopped running right after a refuel. Which is a good sign your gas can is contaminated too.

I have had a poulan pro 550 series push mower for almost 1 year at the end of the season last year the mower would start briefly and then stop. i have cleaned out the air filter and that did not help.the mower started, i made one revolution around the yard 3/4th of the way the mower quit. I then primed the mower it started then quit and now it will not start at all. Does anyone have any suggestions of what to do. Thanks
ANSWER : There is a little spring that works the carburetor arm. If that popped off then the mower will not run.
