Help protect your 2-Cycle gas outdoor power equipment with the Homelite 2-Cycle oil. This oil is a 50:1 gas-to-oil ratio.
The Perfect Recipe

The recommended 50-to-1 fuel mixture includes 2.6 ounces of a high-quality, two-cycle oil with added fuel stabilizers and 1 gallon of unleaded 87-octane gas. Homelite recommends using their brand of oils, specifically designed to work in any model with a 50-to-1 fuel ratio.

Use a 32:1 gasoline to oil ratio. One gallon of gasoline combined with 4 oz of two-cycle engine oil.
Usually, a two-cycle engine uses a 50:1 or 40:1 2 stroke oil to gas ratio.
Oil mix ratios explained

If your manufacturer recommends a 50:1 fuel/oil mix, it means you need 50 parts of gas to one part two-stroke oil. To mix one gallon of fuel at 50:1, add 2.6 ounces of two-stroke oil to one gallon of gas, as shown in the chart below.

Mixing Your Fuel

Your strimmer runs off a mix of semi-synthetic 2-stroke oil and unleaded petrol (40:1).

If you stick to high-quality lubricants, MXA recommends anywhere between 24:1 and 32:1 ratios for 125 and under bikes. You can run 32:1 to 50:1 ratios in your 250 and Open engines.
What is the ratio for 2-stroke fuel mix? Most modern petrol garden machinery requires a 50:1 ratio mix of petrol to oil. This means for every 1 litre of petrol you must mix 20ml of oil.
The ratio refers to the mixture of parts of gasoline to parts of oil. So 50 to 1 fuel mix refers to 50 parts gas to 1 part oil, which is about 2.6 ounces of oil for every gallon of gasoline.
Mixing ratios

For a mixing ratio of 1 : 50 you need 5 litres of petrol and 0.10 litres (100cm³) of STIHL two-stroke oil.

1:25 = 1 part oil + 25 parts petrol, or 40 ml oil per litre of petrol when using other brands of oil. Any two-stroke engine oil you use in your petrol gardening tool must have the TC classification.
100:1 – Mix 50ml of oil per 5ltrs of fuel.

Recommended by Yamaha and Suzuki for most of their small two stroke engines up to about 30hp, this ratio requires the least amount of TCW3 two stroke oil. The result of using this ratio (less oil) is reduced spark plug fouling and less smoke.

One of the many misconceptions of two-stroke machines is that it is different engines that require different ratios of oil and petrol. This is incorrect. The ratios depend on the quality of oil that you have chosen to use. It is recommended to use high quality petrol and oil to extend the running life of the engine.
It`s simply 40 parts of fresh, unleaded fuel with 1 part of semi-synthetic 2 stroke oil.
For example to mix 50:1 you use 50 parts fuel to 1 part oil, which equals one litre of fuel to 20 millilitres of oil or 1 gallon of fuel to 2.56 fluid ounces of oil. For detailed instructions on what you need and how to mix a batch are here.
1:1 ratio is 1 part or 1 unit of a particular quantity. for example, two bottles of water both having 2 liters of water each the ratio will be 22=11=1:1.
Ratios compare two numbers, usually by dividing them. If you are comparing one data point (A) to another data point (B), your formula would be A/B. This means you are dividing information A by information B. For example, if A is five and B is 10, your ratio will be 5/10.
MIX RATIO IS KNOWN. Divide 1 by the total number of parts (water + solution). For example, if your mix ratio is 8:1 or 8 parts water to 1 part solution, there are (8 + 1) or 9 parts. The mixing percentage is 11.1% (1 divided by 9).
Unlike other four-strokes, the 4-MIX engine runs on a standard petrol-oil mix (1:50). A completely new feature is that the petrol-oil mix is distributed through the engine via a bypass channel in the cylinder head for complete lubrication.
A Mix is a ready-to-use solution that contains all the elements required to prepare finished products, with the exception of water, yeast and salt that the baker needs to add during kneading. A 100% quantity is therefore needed. A Premix (or concentrate) is used in a 10% to 50% quantity.
40 to 1 ratio

This equals 25mls of two stroke oil to 1 litre of petrol.

You can do that but I wouldn`t 40 to 1 means 40 parts of gas one part of oil. 50 to1 means 50 parts of gas to 1 part of oil. So the 40 to 1 mixture is more oily and provides better lubrication for your piston rings.
Common gasoline and oil mix ratios are 50:1 and 40:1. Meaning there is 50/40 parts gasoline to one part oil when mixed. The lower the mix ratio number the more oil per volume in the gasoline. To mix properly add oil to your gas can, then add fresh gasoline from the pump.
Running a 2-cycle with the wrong fuel to oil mixture can cause severe damage to your engine. Running the machine without any oil mixed in the fuel can cause severe damage to your equipment within just minutes. This damage is generally very costly to repair and is usually irreparable.

Homelite d3350b what is fuel oil mix i was told i could use 50 to 1 because the new oils are better?????
ANSWER : Buy a good quality oil and mix it to the OIL manufacturers recommendation regardless of what the chainsaw manual says. If you are poking around the barn and find an old can of Homelite 2 cycle oil that says mix 25:1 mix it at that ratio.
All modern oils, chainsaws, and the EPA recommend 50:1. There has been great improvement in 2 cycle technology over the years. To rich a mix causes carbon build up on the piston that breaks loose and scores the piston and cylinder, and it stinks!
