How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
Ballasts are needed to run high pressure discharge Lamps with their various gas fillings (mercury vapour, sodium vapour or metal halide). They stabilise the lamp current and thus lamp power. The rating of the ballast is important to ensure proper lamp operation.
The HPS lamp has an initial strike-up time between three to four minutes. Once the initial arc is established through the xenon starting gas by the high voltage spike, the lamp vaporizes the mercury and sodium amalgam and quickly reaches full brightness.
A high-pressure sodium street light can draw up to 1000 watts, and an incandescent light used in the 1900s needed 320 watts. Some LED street lights require only 73 watts and, according to the U. S. Department of Energy, produce a higher quality of light.
High-pressure sodium lights are a good choice because they emit a light that is stronger in the orange / red spectrum, due to their rich sodium content. Growing a young plant with HPS bulbs will ensure an impressive vertical growth.
High Pressure Sodium lights have excellent lifespan as well (although not as good as LED) which is why they have traditionally been used for outdoor street lighting in municipalities where energy efficiency is at a premium.
Once the sodium vapour lamp is turned ON, it generates a discharge within the neon gas, which produces sufficient heat to evaporate the Na (sodium). A small transformer is used to heat a cathode filament within the discharge tube whereas the anode terminal is connected directly to the 230V AC supply throughout a choke.
These bulbs are two components: an external glass shell and an internal glass tube that holds the sodium gas. Be careful not to touch the bulb with your bare hands as the oils on your hands will cause the bulb to degrade and crack over time. It is better to handle these light bulbs with gloves.
An HPS lamp with a starting strip, it uses a xenon starting gas. -Requires a lossy ballast (inefficient) that operates a low arc voltage of 52-100V.
High Pressure Sodium Lights have long warm-up time, usually around 15-20 minutes. LED fittings are instantly at full output. HPS Lights have good lifespans – around 14,000 hours – though this is significantly less than LEDs.
Incandescent and halogen lamps do not require a ballast. Like we mentioned, you just screw them into the socket, and you`re done. Fluorescent lamps and HID (high intensity discharge) light bulbs do require a ballast.
Without a ballast, a lamp or a bulb will rapidly increase its current draw and it can become uncontrollable as well. When a ballast is present in a lamp, the power becomes stable, and even if such lamps are connected to high power sources, the ballast will regulate the energy and avoid the current rise.

I need the wiring diagram for the solenoid/1999 16hp hydronamic Simplicity
ANSWER : The two big terminals are one fom the battery and the other to the starter.
The two smaller ones one comes from the ignition switch and the other might just be a ground.
Test becareful is hook the battery and starter wires up; take a wire and stick one on the battery terminal and tap each of the smaller terminals; when you get a click that will and should fire the stater; make sure it is out of gear or it will start. remember that terminal and hook the ignition key to it. check the other smaller terminal is or isn’t a ground one.

4 lamp t5 fixture, 1 black wire, 1 white wire, 1 red wire. how do I wire this
ANSWER : Don’t forget this is a 240v appliance so it must be fed from a 240v circuit breaker. Once you have a 240v circuit breaker you need to run 12/3 wire with ground from circuit breaker to a box near your fixture. The 12/3 wire with ground will have; 1 black, 1 white, 1 red and a bare ground wire. With the circuit breaker OFF, hook the wires up respectively to the same colors and ground the bare wires togather with a green ground screw in the box. Turn circuit breaker on.
