If the product is Warner Electric, it will have a Warner Electric part number on a label located on back of the PTO itself, either laser etched onto the clutch housing or possibly a printed label affixed to the housing.
This operation is crucial to the overall functioning of riding mowers, and thus PTO clutch repair may need to be immediately performed on riding mower models that have a failed clutch. Fortunately, you can fix your clutch irrespective of your experience with PTO clutch installation.
Power take-off (PTO) clutches provide a mechanical disconnect between the power created by gas and diesel engines or electric motors to another piece of equipment. The PTO clutches enable the transmission of that energy to auxiliary equipment that does not generate its own power.
Engage the PTO switch. The clutch should have an amp draw of approximately 4.0 amps. If the meter reads significantly above or below 4.0 amps, there may be a shorted coil, faulty switch or battery causing the problem. The clutch assembly should be kept free from debris buildup.
An accurate way to determine which series of PTO you have is to take two measurements of the cross and bearing kit on the tractor-end of the driveline. Using calipers, measure the outside diameters of the u-joint caps, which would be the same as measuring the inside holes of the yoke ears.

There are generaly two types of PTO overload clutch, a cam cut out clutch and a friction disc torque limiting clutch, commonly all refered to as “PTO Slip Clutches”.
Powershift PTO engagement problems could be from blocked hoses or fittings, bad connections or ground or the solenoid. Mechanical PTO engagement problems could originate from low air pressure, improper cable installation or back lash too tight.
For power shift operation, when a power shift PTO is engaged, a solenoid is energized. Air or hydraulic fluid then compresses a clutch pack in the PTO. This locks the PTO output gear to the output shaft and allows work to be done. When the power shift PTO is disengaged, the solenoid de-energizes.
Ogura general purpose electromagnetic clutches can handle almost all direct engine mount clutch requirements in the 5 horsepower to 40 horsepower load range. They are also ideally suited for outdoor applications in the agricultural, construction equipment, oil and gas field and power generation markets.
PTOs are rated according to the torque capacity, which is the amount of force needed to make something move or run. And to calculate the speed of the PTO, here is the formula, Equipment Speed รท Engine Speed = PTO Speed.
The clutch is usually mounted directly to the face of the engine`s flywheel, as this already provides a convenient large-diameter steel disk that can act as one driving plate of the clutch. Some racing clutches use small multi-plate disk packs that are not part of the flywheel.
What are the components of a clutch? A complete clutch consists of flywheel or dual-mass flywheel (DMF), clutch disk, clutch pressure plate and clutch release bearing.

Where is oil drain plug on MTD mower – Mtd LAWN MOWER PART # 683-04163B FRAME Assembly:RIDER
ANSWER : If it isn’t on the bottom of the engine (above the blade) then you don’t have one. This is not that uncommon. When you need to drain the oil, FIRST- pull the spark plug wire off!!! Then remove the dip stick or filler plug and turn the unit upside down and drain the oil.
Lawn mower cranck but wont start…
ANSWER : Since you already checked for spark and air I would drain all the fuel out of it and check that fuel for water. Over time some lawn mowers end up with contaminated fuel. You can see the water sitting on the bottom of the fuel if you let it stand for a bit in a small plastic bowl.
Be sure to empty and dry out you fuel can as well. Especially if the mower stopped running right after a refuel. Which is a good sign your gas can is contaminated too.
How do I recharge the battery on a key start mower

I have trouble starting a toro walk behind mower
ANSWER : All, I thought my carb was shot, so I replaced it. Still, start but no run (and had to use starting fluid). THEN!!! I noticed the spring to the “rev limiter” (just below and towards rear of carb) was not “tight”. The stupid bracket that holds the end of that spring had been bent down ~1/16″ and that caused all this heartache. CHECK YOUR REV LIMITER!!!
How do i add transmission oil – Ariens Lawn Tractor 46"" Riding Lawn Mower 936053"
ANSWER : Should a plug or cap on top of transaxle.
Lawn mower motor runs good, the drive wheels run good but the blade won’t stay enguaged. Thanks
ANSWER : Check your cable that controls the blade engagement.
I was mowing and the blades stopped turning. I disengaged and re-engaged the blades a few times and they started back. Then a few minutes later the blades stopped again then the motor stopped and will not start.
ANSWER : I have no idea what type or model of mower you have but if I was to guess I would say it has an electric pto clutch on it, if so remove your pto belt and clutch. I would bet it is burned out and locked up preventing your motor from turning over. Once the clutch is removed I will bet it will start and run fine. This is not a cheap fix but relatively easy one. Hope this helps.
