Poulan Pro gas-powered chainsaws feature powerful 2-stroke engines and our very own spring-assisted Effortless Pull-Start System (EPS) for reliable starts with minimal cord-pulling effort.
The carburetor might be clogged. A clogged carburetor is often caused by leaving fuel in the chainsaw for a long period of time. Over time, some of the ingredients in the fuel will evaporate, leaving behind a thicker, stickier substance. This sticky fuel can clog up the carburetor and prevent the engine from starting.
Mix 2.6 oz. of full synthetic 2-Cycle Oil with 1 gallon of gasoline for a 50:1 mixture. Shake well. Pour into fuel tank.
Poulan brand today

Since Poulan is owned by Husqvarna, the two brands often share technologies.

The easiest way to tell a 2-cycle engine from a 4-cycle engine is the number of fuel tank and/or oil sump fill ports. A 2-cycle engine has one fill port with a cap that has fuel pump and oil can icon. The cap will usually state the oil to fuel mix ratio.
Husqvarna definitely owns Poulan.
A: Mix 3.2 ounces of Poulan 2-cycle air cooled engine oil to one gallon of fresh unleaded gasoline to obtain the recommended 40:1 fuel to oil ratio. Over a period of time oil will separate from gasoline.
The letters on the screws represent High (H), Low (L) and Idle (T). The H screw regulates the Air/Fuel mix during high RPMs, while the L Screw does the same during low RPMs. The T screw regulates how much fuel is sent to the carburettor while idling until the throttle is pressed.
They are typically labeled L (low speed jet), H (high speed jet), and I (idler jet).
A spark plug might be defective and needs to be replaced.

If your chainsaw has a defective spark plug, it cannot create an electrical current to ignite the system. Remove the spark plug and inspect if it is dirty, cracked, eroded, or damaged. There may also be a heavy carbon buildup or a burned-up electrode.

There may be old or bad fuel in the carburetor float bowl. Over time, some of the ingredients in the fuel may evaporate, leaving behind a thicker, stickier substance. This sticky fuel can clog up the carburetor and make the engine hard to start. If the carburetor is clogged, try cleaning it with carburetor cleaner.
If a petrol engine chainsaw won`t start, it is usually due to an engine malfunction, specifically relating to the fuel system (which mixes the fuel with air and feeds this mixture into the engine`s combustion chamber) or ignition system (which produces the spark that starts combustion and thereby causes the engine to …

I just purchased a poulan lawn mower at Kents. Have not used yet. Can you add unleaded gas to the poulan lawn mower/do you have to mix the gas?
ANSWER : You do not mix gas in a 4 cycle engine. You have to mix gas and oil for a 2 cycle engine, such as in a weed whacker, chainsaw, or leaf blower. I do not know of any 2 cycle Poulan mowers (or any other brands for that matter). Unleaded gas is all you can buy in the United States and all current mowers will run on it, although they really don’t like that new ethanol additive. If your mower is new then it should have come with an owner’s manual which will explain what to do, as well. Hope this answers your question. James
