again for 10-15 minutes. However on other occasions the water flow stops but the motor continues running with no output. I leave the washer. with the power turned off for 15 minutes or so, afer which it operates again for 10-15 minutes. How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
If your machine cuts out occasionally, it could be because you are using an electric extension cable. Extension cables must always be 13 amp constant rating and no longer than 10 metres. Please check your operating instructions for correct specifications.
Water leaking from a loose connection can cause the unit to cycle on and off. Verify if the pressure hose has an O-ring at the connection. If missing, this will also cause the unit to cycle on and off. While the unit is running look for any water leaks that may cause the unit to turn back on.
PLEASE NOTE: You should always press the RESET button on the GFCI before using the pressure washer.
The reason for this is because a build up of water pressure. On the water inlet or coupling the water can cause a pressure build up, popping the garden hose off. The aqua stop is a valve in the end of the garden hose connection that restricts water flow.
One of the most common reasons a pressure washer won`t stay running is because the spark plug is dirty or damaged. To clean the spark plug, you will need to remove it from the engine and use a wire brush to remove any build-up on the electrode.
If your pressure washer is refusing to work or even turn on, the culprit could potentially be the power switches. Most pressure washers use two micro switches that disconnect both the live and neutral connections between the supply and the motor. These switches can jam cutting the power out from reaching the motor.
Machine Type: Gas pressure washers can typically run for about 30 minutes before they need a break. Electric models can usually go for an hour or more. If you`re using a hot water pressure washer, you`ll need to give it breaks more frequently – about every 15 minutes.
It Can Harm The Unit Without water to cool and lubricate it, the pump will work harder than it should, causing it to wear down quickly. This can happen even with just a few seconds of running the pressure washer without the water being turned on. However, the pump is not the only part that takes damage.
The Karcher K4 Full Control comes with a Dirt Blaster jet lance and a Vario Power Spray lance which allows you to adjust the pressure settings of the unit, making sure you get an optimal and efficient clean. The symbols marked on the LED display trigger gun (see image below) show you the current pressure setting.
Gas-powered pressure washers have a thermal release valve that releases water from the pump when it reaches a specific temperature to keep the pump from overheating. When the valve is open, new, cooler water is introduced into the pump and then closes when the temperature is brought down.
Surging occurs when the pressure is fine and then weakens. It is caused when the flow rate for the pump cannot be supported by the water supply. Problems can mount from there so it is important that it is dealt with as soon as possible.
If this is a gas powered pressure washer, then the pump is not going into by-pass mode and the pressure build up is overloading the engine causing it to shut down.

My Honda 2600 psi power washer will not pull to start. It was running great then I allowed the neighbor to borrow it. He ran the washer till it was out of gas and proceeded to refuel and at this point it would no longer start. The pull cord is out about 4-6 inches out and I am concerned about taking the casing off myself.
Fearing that it may throw more off on the unit. If i take the casing off are there any spring loaded parts that will dismount?
What should I do? Spark Plug? Turn wrenches?
Please let me know
ANSWER : You should be fine to take the recoil off, there shouldn’t be anything that shoots out at you. You might want to check the oil level on the engine, many of the Honda engines won’t start unless there is enough oil in them. If your oil level is fine, check to make sure that your motor is getting spark.
Motor stops, washer was working , full level in oil and good oil. Don’t starts again, apparently barred engine, does not “turn” around.
ANSWER : Whats it like if you remove the pump and gearbox if driven by a gearbox?
Motor starts, stops, starts, stops etc never running completely. not putting out much water pressure. not building pressure??
ANSWER : Is you nozzle plugged? That is what this sounds like.
Running pump stopped
ANSWER : I assume that the plug in is working properly. Always check power supply first. Is there a GFCI circuit that it is plugged into. Then check the pump to make certain it us turning. How long had it been on before unplugging it. It could be worn out. Sometimes it takes a jolt to start the motor again. How big is the motor. Possible bad capacitor. Could be a solid state motor, then it’s bad. Is it a magnetic motor, that could be turning the wrong way.
Starts great and sprays great, but will not continue to run when [ stop spraying. It locks up until I release the pressure from the gun.is there a pressure by-pass adjustment I can make?
ANSWER : Tune up motor, replace air filter/spark plug and oil.
The pull cord will not pull..I can’t start the engine. What can I do?
ANSWER : Remove the spark plug and see if it will then turn over. If it does then the motor is not seized or has water or fluid it is trying to compress. If the above lets it turn over freely the problem lies with the cord being trapped on the pully that is spring loaded. This task is better investigated by someone with experience to avoid losing parts and not beoing able to reassemble.
My Simpson Water Shotgun shuts down about a minute into the wash
ANSWER : Have you checked the oil level? Some engines have a sensor that shuts it down if the oil is too low
