How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

Gator® Mulching Blades

All Gator mulching mower blades feature the patented Gator mulching “teeth” which circulate cut grass back into the deck multiple times, creating a finer cut and better looking lawn.

Unlike other mulching blades that push the grass down, the high lift on a gator blade draws the grass up which in turn gives you a clean, even cut. This high lift also makes using Gator Blades in bagging operations a great choice.
But the cutting edge is the only part that needs sharpened. We have found that, due to a slight tilt forward along the cutting edge, the 35 degree setting is best to keep the factory edge on most Gator blades.
Oregon`s Gator blades are made in the USA and are extremely durable, strong and resistant to bending and breaking.
Mulching blades feature more curves and an increased cutting edge. The curved surface and increased cutting edge allows the blade to cut the grass and bring it into the deck where it is cut several more times before falling back onto the lawn in much smaller pieces.
Gator blades, which have teeth rather than a straight blade, are worth considering for fall clean up if you have lots of leaves. They`re more efficient than regular mulching blades and will also cut your grass perfectly well.
People often ask if high-lift blades are good for mulching. The fact is, they`re not generally designed for this purpose. In cases where you would want to mulch your grass clippings, a mulching blade should be used.
File Sharpening

Clamp the Gator blade into a vise, taking care not to damage or bend the teeth on the back of the blade. You need to sharpen the cutting edge, not the teeth themselves.

What Is the Proper Angle To Sharpen the Blades of Lawn Mowers? The proper angle to sharpen the blades of lawn mowers is 45 degrees to keep it working perfectly. For mulching types of blades, the proper angle for the cutting edge is 35 degrees.
Sharpen the edge of the blade using a 10-inch file or grindstone, keeping the file at roughly a 45-degree angle. Sharpen from the top side of the cutting edge. Push the file in one direction along the blade. Don`t saw back and forth.
So, you can say the Gator blade is also a mulching blade because the mulching blade is a type of Gator blade. You can use Gator mulching blades on mowers like Cub Cadet, Husqvarna, Toro, and John Deere. But if you are talking about “mulching blades” alone it means you are talking about the blades that produce mulch.
A high lift blade delivers maximum airflow for the best cut. But it does need a higher horsepower mower to perform, therefore using more gas. This is the ideal choice when you are bagging, since the higher lift force will send the clippings out of the deck.

We`re often asked what the difference is between mulching blades and regular blades. Unlike regular side-discharge lawn mowers, a mulching blade is designed to cut grass clippings into finer pieces so they can be mulched back into your yard.

I am having problems with the battery on my worx gt trimmer. It will not stay charged even though the battery charger indicates a green light. What am I doing wrong? I put it back on he charger it will read a red light and then switch to green after a few seconds.
ANSWER : You can determine exactly what is going on by using a small handheld voltmeter. They are inexpensive, easy to use and come in very handy. Just test the output of the charger (after noting what the volt-output-rating is) by touching the leads of the meter to the terminals on the charger. If the charger is working at all, this is not a dangerous test. Conversely, test the output of your batteries by touching the leads of the voltmeter to the terminals on them. I suspect the charger is bad because after they overheat, they quit working and some don’t last very long. I don’t think YOU are doing anything wrong, just maybe the companies that manufacture these 2 electrical products are.
