Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
What oil reservoir. Is it 2 or 4 stroke. If your fuel system has a float bowl with needle and seat that needle may have stuck or otherwise leaked fuel into the engine, past the rings and into the crankcase. Otherwsie you need to post more information about what engine etc etc you have.

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

Usually the problem is in the float bowl. The float needle and seat need replacing. When it`s faulty, gas doesn`t stop flooding the carburetor and gets into the cylinder and mixes with the oil. You must also change the oil when this happens as your oil is now ruined.
The gas leaks down into the crankcase, where it generates a fine mist of oil droplets from the oil used for lubricating and cooling the engine. In order to prevent the pressure in the crankcase constantly increasing, the crankcase gas needs to be vented off.
This occurs because most seals are not perfect (nor are the cylinders perfectly rounded), or there is an opening through the cylinder crosshatches, and this causes the migration of fuel and exhaust gases into the areas where the oil is used.
Completely drain the oil tank using the drain plug and allow the oil tank to air out and dry overnight. Do this outdoors. Fill the oil tank with new oil. If needed, drain the oil tank again to ensure all of the gas is out of the oil tank before adding new oil again.
The best thing to do is to drain your tank immediately, refill it with gas and replace the fuel filter. Once you do so, you should be good to go and can continue mowing. It may smoke for a few minutes as it clears out the remaining bad fuel but should clear up quickly.
Not only because the vehicle will not operate as it should, but also because bad gasoline can cause damage to the internal engine components as well as produce a gummy residue that could create blockages in the fuel line.
This means that as the engine is running at operating temperature and the engine oil is exposed to the high temperatures within a working engine, some of the fuel in the oil will evaporate.
Generally petroleum oil and natural gas are separated on the basis of its density. As we know that oil has less density than water, which is the reason for floating of oil above water. While gases have lower density than oil and water. Thus gases will float above oil which is floating above water.
It`s a BAD idea! The oil is contaminated with impurities that will not do the fueling system on your car any favors. Further, it`s bad for the environment because your car is NOT designed to burn oil even if it`s mixed with gasoline.
Blue or white smoke coming from your engine usually indicates burning oil, which can be caused by: Overfilling the crankcase with oil. Incorrect oil grades. Operating engine at greater than a 15 degree angle.
Gas is less dense than both and will float to the top. Petroleum produced by source rocks will migrate into a “reservoir” rock.
