If your snowblower won`t turn on or start, you can insert the key in the starter switch. There could be a problem with your starter switch or motor. To test the starter switch, you can use a multimeter. If the starter switch is not working properly, replace it.
A snowblower may start with old gas in the system. However, a no-start is a more likely outcome. Draining the gas and refueling often solves the problem, but a full carburetor cleaning may also be needed. Adding a fuel stabilizer at the season`s end will prevent stale gas and carburetor gumming.
The most common cause of a snowblower without a spark is a fouled spark plug. Cleaning and gapping or replacing the spark plug will fix the problem. Other likely causes of snowblower no spark include: Faulty control switch (on/off switch)
Turn off the snowblower engine and leave it to cool. Remove the carburetor bowl, float bowl and flathead. Spray and clean the dirty carburetor with a carburetor cleaner, removing debris with a cloth. Let it sit to remove impurities.
A common issue is a clogged carburetor from stale gas. Using a fuel stabilizer keeps fuel fresh and the carburetor from gumming and varnishing. Third step, check the ignition system with a spark tester. Step four, replace the spark plug and reconnect the spark plug wire.

Where is the oil drain plug – Troy Bilt 5.5hp Self Propelled Mower
ANSWER : You probably dont have one!

The best way to drain is to warm up the engine *(to suspend the dirt and metal and get the oil flowing) Then tip the mower to the side with the oil filler with the dipstick removed. The oil just pours out!
Get a dog dish sized bowl and catch the waste oil for disposal.

Good luck and be careful!

I started it because we are expecting a snow storm. The way it is running I’m fear that when it has a load on it will die out. Is there something I can do to clear up the problem?
