My gas blower wont start,,tried new gas ,,tried new plug, tried cleaning filter
Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
This is a common problem with blowers. trimmers, chain saws etc. I believe your carburetor needs to be rebuilt. The carb has very thin rubber diaphragms that meter in fuel to combustion chamber. If the diaphragms get hard (from sitting long periods with fuel in carb or from extreme heat) they won’t flex enough to allow enough fuel in, If you need parts or more assistance email [email protected].

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

If you are using too lean of a gas mix, the pistons will not be lubricated properly, and they will freeze up in time. This happens very quickly when you use regular gas in a two-cycle engine. You will not be able to pull the draw cord to start the blower once the pistons have locked up.
If your blower is having a difficult time starting, then you may be dealing with a carburetor issue. The carburetor`s job is to ensure the proper mix of fuel and air is directed to the blower`s engine. As mentioned, the carburetor can become clogged, making it difficult for fuel and air to enter the engine.
Problems include dirty filters, broken wires, poor voltage supply and faulty limit switch or capacitor. You can test your limit switch with a multimeter, and clean the blower motor`s wire coils. If this doesn`t work, you may need to replace your furnace blower motor.
DIY Frequently Asked Questions / What will happen if you put straight gas in a 2-cycle engine? Without any oil in the fuel for lubricating, the engine will seize up and will probably be ruined. Always remember to use the oil/gas mixture in the proper ratio recommended by the mower manufacturer.
The fuel isn`t one of your leaf blower`s mechanical parts, but it`s an important part to consider. Not only does fuel quality start to degrade after 30 days; fuel left to sit longer than that can damage the blowers tank and fuel lines.
The engine misfires or runs rough. The engine starts, but stalls shortly after. There is a noticeable increase in fuel consumption during normal equipment use. The spark plug itself appears damaged or corroded with carbon build-up or rust.
A clogged carburetor is most commonly caused by leaving fuel in the leaf blower for a long period of time. Over time, some of the ingredients in the fuel may evaporate, leaving behind a thicker, stickier substance. This sticky fuel can clog up the carburetor and cause the engine to stall.
