Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
Wrong belt size? Did you put everything back the way you took it off to put the belt on? Usually, it’s the belt, if it doesnt fit tight it will vibrate, have a burning smell and wont let you shift smoothly.

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

First of all, one of the most common sounds that a mower makes is a squealing sound. This tends to happen when your mower needs oil or if the bearings need to be replaced. Be sure to lubricate your bearings on a regular basis in order to prevent squealing.
It is not unusual for transaxle gears to make a slight whining noise while the tractor is moving. Normally, this is more noticeable for new tractors or new transmissions. This sound is the result of friction from the gear teeth meshing inside the transaxle casing.
Dirty air filters are one of the most common reasons lawn mowers sputter. Dirt can be present in the apertures that lead from the carburetor and the fuel filter and interrupt the flow of fuel supply to the combustion chamber. You want to be sure to clean or replace dirty air filters.
Bearings. Worn bearings about to fail completely often make grinding noises, as well as unusual vibrations. The mandrels holding the mower deck`s cutting blades contain two bearings that need frequent lubrication to keep the bearings working properly.
There are typically two main causes behind hydraulic pump whine: cavitation and aeration. It can be difficult to differentiate between the two as they produce similar signs, but correct diagnosis is crucial to finding the most suitable solution.
Car Makes Whining Noise When Accelerating

While the transmission is the most likely cause, whining while accelerating can also be caused by low power steering fluid or more serious damage like faulty alternator bearings, a malfunctioning water pump, a broken piston or a bad AC compressor.

Take a look at the blade under the mower deck. Sometimes the knocking sound you hear could be the result of a loose, bent or wobbling blade. If you`ve recently removed or replaced the blade and it suddenly started knocking, this is quite possibly the cause of your issue.
A bent blade will be unbalanced which will cause your mower to shake. If damage to your blade has occurred, it`s possible that your crankshaft was also damaged during the impact. A damaged mower blade should be replaced and your crankshaft inspected.
