If the PTO clutch is not getting power, if the clutch solenoid is defective, or if the clutch is worn out, the lawn mower blades will not engage. The PTO clutch is not repairable—if the clutch is defective, you must replace it.
Powershift PTO engagement problems could be from blocked hoses or fittings, bad connections or ground or the solenoid. Mechanical PTO engagement problems could originate from low air pressure, improper cable installation or back lash too tight.
Check that all the safety switches are working correctly, it is possible the seat switch is bad or loose plug/ bad wire. Also if battery weak or charging system weak/faulty the clutch will stall out engine, charge battery up with charger and try.

Bad bearings in the pulleys or spindle housings could also be a reason why your Cub Cadet deck belt keeps coming off. First, examine your mower`s pulleys and ensure they are parallel to the deck and level. If they are not, the belt could come off the pulley.

A common cause of belt breakage is excessive grass clippings on the deck. Grass clippings can work their way under pulleys and deck covers, causing series problems. Make sure to clean off your deck after every mower use and follow manufacturer recommendations.

As the fuel level drops, a vacuum begins to form in the fuel tank because air can get in to fill the space the consumed fuel occupied. After about 10 or 15 minutes, the vacuum will become strong enough that fuel will stop flowing to the carburetor and the lawnmower will die.
Condensation inside the gas tank is one culprit, but moisture can also enter the system through a loose or ill fitting gas cap. The best solution is to drain the mower`s gas tank and refill it with fresh gasoline. A clogged fuel filter can also cause a mower engine to die.
Extreme overheating can cause irreversible dishing of the pressure plate leading to disengagement problems.
The clutch is operated by pushing on the clutch pedal inside the vehicle, which causes the clutch to disengage, and as the pedal is released the clutch will engage. Depending on the type of system the vehicle has, it will either have a hydraulic operated clutch or cable operated clutch.
A Dirty Carburetor Can Cause a Lawnmower To Start Then Die

I have a cub cadet 2165 I just put in a new battery and it is slow turning over any ideas?
ANSWER : If battery is good and everything is hooked up right. Most likely could be the pto clutch bearing. Not the bearing on the pulley but on the clutch inside. Had the same problem, took the spark plugs out got it free. Turned over easy with plugs out, Started right up after and then burned up my bearing. Don’t burn up bearing. If do field assy. For that is 200$ if you can get away with just that. Otherwise 350-400$ for full assy.

ANSWER : I had the same problem. there was a short in the relay just before the wire gets to to back pulley assembly.
