Sounds like one of the pulley bearings on the deck is locked up. TURN OFF THE MOWER! Crawl under there and try to turn each pulley by hand. The pulley(s) that has the blade on the bottom has 2 bearings, the others just have 1 bearing each. Once you figure out which pulley is locked up, google your model number and look for a parts diagram. It will give you the part number for the failed pulley. Pulleys are not very difficult to replace. Basic hand tools and a couple of hours will usually take care of it. The replacement part is available online at many retailers, or try your local mower repair guy for the part. I recommend replacing the belt at this time also, as it has been under alot of stress and may break soon after.

A short chirp or squeak is normal, especially when related components are new. In the same way that a new pair of sneakers can make a squeaking sound when stopping or starting across a clean floor, these belts may develop a similar sound when the rubber belt contacts with these metal pulleys.

Where they fail to take out the build-up and clean the deck of their riding mowers, they also do not notice whether the engine is lubricated enough. If you have not changed the engine oil in a long time and hear loud and weird sounds from your machine, you have a reason for it.
Worn bearings about to fail completely often make grinding noises, as well as unusual vibrations. The mandrels holding the mower deck`s cutting blades contain two bearings that need frequent lubrication to keep the bearings working properly. As bearings dry and overheat, seals fail and dirt enters the mechanism.
Belts that are too tight put an excessive load on pulleys, shafts, and bearings. Excessive belt tension will also wear out a belt quickly. Proper belt tension is 1/2 inch of sideplay both ways. Press down on the belt midway between pulleys and observe the travel.
Sometimes a belt will squeal upon starting a vehicle and will disappear shortly thereafter. Other times though the squealing belt problem will last for the duration of the time the car engine is running.
The belt squeals because there is improper tension in the belt drive system. This is usually caused by a worn automatic tensioner, but other causes can include a contaminated belt (oil, belt dressing, etc.) or a belt that is too long or worn out.
The good news is a serpentine belt can last up to 50,000 miles or five years, with proper maintenance, before it needs replacing. Heat and friction of normal use slowly wear down the belt before it breaks.
