If it has the word “Bottom,” or a model number printed on it, that side of the blade faces the ground when the mower is upright. If there are no markings, check the blade`s bevel. The beveled portion must face away from the ground when installed. The bend in mulching blades also must point away from the ground.
Unless your blade is really old, the side with the cutting edge will be visibly sharper and shinier than the other side, which will have a dull and blunt edge. The side of the blade with the blunt edge should always face upwards towards the lawn mower`s deck.
Mulching blades will basically cut the leaves into small pieces so they can just decompose and dissolve into the topsoil fertilizing it and beneficiating the grass of your lawn.
Understanding Mower Blade Direction & Retaining Bolts

The blades of walk-behind mowers usually rotate in the right or left direction, depending on the type of mower you are using. Because the bolt is left-handed, you must turn it clockwise to remove the blade.

Mulching blades are sometimes called “all purpose” or “3-in-1” blades because you can use them to mulch, bag, or side discharge.
The curved surface and increased cutting edge allows the blade to cut the grass and bring it into the deck where it is cut several more times before falling back onto the lawn in much smaller pieces. The curved design of a mulching blade does not provide the same type of lift and discharge power as standard blades.
Mulching blades are sometimes called “all purpose” or “3-in-1” blades because you can use them to mulch, bag, or side discharge.
What If You Tilt Your Mower The Wrong Way? Don`t panic it`s not that big a deal. If you tilted your mower the wrong way, just tilt it onto its four wheels again and clean up any spilled gas. Oil and gas may have made their way to the air filter, and saturated it.
Mulching blades are sometimes called “all purpose” or “3-in-1” blades because you can use them to mulch, bag, or side discharge.
The proper angle to sharpen the blades of lawn mowers is 45 degrees to keep it working perfectly. For mulching types of blades, the proper angle for the cutting edge is 35 degrees.

I had hit a somewhat hidden stump on the lawn..bending the blade. Took the deck off and replaced the bent blade. Put the deck back on and now the cut seems uneven. It appears that the deck is now uneven. I attempted to follow the directions for a side-to-side leveling. Started with trying to measure the blade height and am struggling with getting to a spot where I can measure the blade on the left side. By looking at the deck, it appears to be uneven. I am struggling with being able to raise the left side of the deck.

ANSWER : Did it start before you installed snow blade? Did you remove mower deck? If you removed mower deck you probably had to unplug blade safety switch. This is a plug in deal, look underneath and see if it is hanging, there is probably a place on the snow attachment to plug into,or you can jump around it by plugging a wire into each hole. (please note I am assuming it ran good before you installed the snow attachment).Hope this helps.
