Was moving and everything was going well. Started it again and drive belt came off. Tried to fit it back on but it is it a good 18 cms too long.
How is that possible? Cheers Pat

A: Your mower has two belts. Both play a role in making the blades turn. The “Deck Belt” goes around the pulleys right above the blades on the deck and then to a double pulley. The “Drive Belt” on your mower goes from the transmission, around an Idler pulley then over to the double pulley I mentioned before.

The serpentine belt, also known as the drive belt, is responsible for connecting the alternator, power steering, AC, and other important components to the crankshaft. The crankshaft is part of the engine and provides power to the alternator. The crankshaft may also provide power to the water pump in some cars.
Most cars today use a single belt, called a serpentine belt. Older cars often have two belts – a drive belt and an alternator belt. Your power steering belt is generally the serpentine or drive belt. Without this, the power steering pump doesn`t work and fluid cannot be sent through the lines to the steering rack.
Belt types. All power transmission belts are either friction drive or positive drive. Friction drive belts rely on the friction between the belt and pulley to transmit power.
Belt drive turntables, reportedly, produce better sound quality. Because a belt drive reduces vibration noise, a record player`s sound can be cleaner. Many record player owners, in fact, focus on motor noise reduction as a priority. The more a record player`s feedback noise is reduced, the clearer its noise is.
There are seven belts: white, yellow, orange, green, blue, brown and black.
An easy way to determine belt size is to simply “add 2″ to your off-the-rack trouser size. For example, if you wear a 36” waist trouser, then a 38-belt size will be a safe bet. Most will find this simple formula works best for pants worn at a traditional height–close to the natural waistline.
Put on a pair of pants that fits well and stand in a relaxed position. Then wrap a soft tape measure through the belt loops so the tape is snug but not too tight. This measurement is your belt size. You may need to round up to the nearest even-numbered inch.
Unlike chain drive, which requires very frequent cleaning, tightening and maintenance, belt drives are relative maintenance free. They run clean as they don`t have to be lubricated with sticky lubes and don`t require cleaning either.

Your car`s serpentine belt is a long continuous belt that drives all your engine components. Newer cars use serpentine belts because they are easy to replace.

Drive belt Have replace drive belt but mower still has no forward movement. Mower is only 2 years old but its already had to have another drive belt installed by the dealer last year. wanted to do it myself but when i install belt theres hardly any tension so mower doesnt move. Checked and rechecked the diagram and is installed correctly. Cant find a tensioner adjustment if it has one.
