Mower picked up a piece of chain, disengaged the mower and dislodged chain pieces. started mower the mower started normally but the mower was not moving. after awhile I started it again and barely moved slowly. Now does not move. Engaged the cutting part and works properly.

Ck belts that run hydraulic pumps for tire drive , it might have slipped a bit with chain caught , now belts skid instead of transferring power to pumps , also these pumps might have a manual pressure relief reset , I was thinking they only used them on bigger units , but you might have one as well ,hey its possible , this will need to be reset prior to continuing mowing (refer to manual for location )

ANSWER : Remove valve cover,bring #1 cylinder top dead center,make sure both push rods are loose,put you dist in and were ever your rotor is pointed that will be your number one wire.then you will have to adjust you timing when started by ear,I hope this helps you

I prime my tecumseh engine three times as stated. The lawn mower still will not start. How do I investigate to figure out what is wrong? I have taken it to a repair man twice. After I get it back it will start the first couple of times that I try it. Then it goes back to its history of not starting when I prime it 3 times. Sometimes I can prime it 7-9 times and it might start. Sometimes if I prime it 30-40 times it might start the next day.
ANSWER : This sounds like a fuel delivery problem. Maybe remove the carb and tear it down and then soak it overnight in a cleaner after removing all the moving parts…not real hard normally…then let dry and reassemble…If this doesn’t improve the fuel delivery problem, maybe get another carb for it….Make sure the air filter is not plugged up, blocking air flow to the carb itself..just something to make sure of at first.
