It attaches the the front of the tractor. Similar to a plow to a truck. If you don’t have the brackets, you will need those, or make your own. You can see a picture of the brackets if you go to sears.com. Click on the PartsDirect link at the top, and enter the blade model number.
How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
Most lawn tractor manufacturers have snow plow, or snow blower, attachments available. There are universal plow/blower attachments to be purchased as well, many for the price of a lower-priced walk-behind snow blower. It`s not that hard, actually, to convert your lawn tractor into a snow removal machine.
If you already own a lawn or garden tractor, you can add a snow blower attachment to it, enabling you to cozy up on your lawn tractor and let its powerful engine do the work. But the comfort and style doesn`t have to end there!
Snowplow Attachments for John Deere Tractors
If you are looking for an attachment for plowing snow out of the way, take your pick from several front blades and snow push options. Front blade and snow push attachments are both used on the front of your John Deere tractor.
To plow snow, you should generally have a front engine tractor with at least 20 hp (V-Twin preferred), a strong transmission (preferably hydrostatic automatic), and a very strong chassis with front mount capability to hold the plow.
Blowers are manually controlled and standalone machines, making them easy-to-control and great for detail work like removing snow from driveways. Plows attach to pre-existing vehicles, such as trucks and SUVs, so offer increased speed and beefier snow-removing power.
The snow blade simply an angled, usually slightly-curved blade that attaches to the front of the mower and pushes the snow out of the way, into piles or into areas where having snow is not an impediment.
If the snow falls light and fluffy, a hand-held leaf blower quickly takes care of business. A leaf blower works best with snow that`s less than three inches deep and hasn`t been packed down by vehicles or boots. You can also try your wet/dry shop vacuum, blowing snow away or sucking it up.

I put my snow blade on successfully, but the tractor does not start now! What to do?
ANSWER : Did it start before you installed snow blade? Did you remove mower deck? If you removed mower deck you probably had to unplug blade safety switch. This is a plug in deal, look underneath and see if it is hanging, there is probably a place on the snow attachment to plug into,or you can jump around it by plugging a wire into each hole. (please note I am assuming it ran good before you installed the snow attachment).Hope this helps.

Also, is there a source for a bagging system for this mower, that won’t cost as much as one from Sears?
