Replaced belt but cannot find a way to tighten it

There is a safety switch at the end of the cutter engage lever which has gone faulty and needs replacing, overiding the switch by keeping it pressed in will allow the mower to be operational till replacement switch is fitted.
This is most likely a safety switch issue. Usually the seat safety switch will cause this problem. The mower dies because it thinks nobody is sitting in the seat, and shuts off for safety reasons.
A Husqvarna riding mower commonly dies when blades are engaged because the grass box is not fully closed. Other possible causes include: Grass Box Misaligned. Grass Box Sensor Wiring Loose.
Check that all the safety switches are working correctly, it is possible the seat switch is bad or loose plug/ bad wire. Also if battery weak or charging system weak/faulty the clutch will stall out engine, charge battery up with charger and try.
A Dirty Carburetor Can Cause a Lawnmower To Start Then Die
By far, the most common issue that causes a stalled motor is a dirty carburetor. The carburetor on your engine is the thing that draws in air and mixes it with the fuel. Contrary to what the movies might make you think, gasoline itself is not very flammable.
The most common reason for a surging lawn mower engine is a blockage in the fuel supply, but there are other possibilities: Bad gas. Bad spark plug. Dirty/faulty carburetor.
Belt-the number one cause for your blades not to engage is that your belt is either stretched or loose causing it to slip or fall off completely. Belt could have snapped also. When you are trying to process too much grass/leaves they could pack up under your deck and push off your belt.
A clogged carburetor is most commonly caused by leaving fuel in the lawn mower for a long period of time. Over time, some of the ingredients in the fuel may evaporate, leaving behind a thicker, stickier substance. This sticky fuel can clog up the carburetor and cause the engine to stall.
The PTO switch is a critical safety device developed to prevent unintentional blade actuation of lawn equipment. This switch is part of a series of controls that comprise a mower`s safety interlock system, requiring riders to use proper procedure when operating machinery.
If your lawn mower starts, runs briefly, then dies these are the four most common reasons that`s happening: Dirty carburetor / clogged carburetor bowl. Old gasoline that has gone bad. Dirty or defective spark plugs.
As the fuel level drops, a vacuum begins to form in the fuel tank because air can get in to fill the space the consumed fuel occupied. After about 10 or 15 minutes, the vacuum will become strong enough that fuel will stop flowing to the carburetor and the lawnmower will die.
A dirty carburetor is the most common cause of a lawn mower that starts and then dies. Other possible causes include: Stale/Dirty Gas. Faulty Choke.
Mower blades are spinning 4000 RPMs. An unbalanced blade spinning that fast will cause a significant amount of vibration, which will put stress on yout blade shaft, spindle, and even the engine.

Engine dies if i engage blades or take my foot off the brake
ANSWER : You likely need to replace the brake switch,the seat switch can also cause the same problem.Most likely problem is the seat switch,i would try that first.The pto or the reverse switch can cause a shut down but not until you try to mow,seat switch is the most suspect.

Serviced my riding lawnmower runs great. but when I put in drive it dies out. Also when I engage blades it dies out. No problems last summer. It won,t stay running when I do these two steps
ANSWER : Probably the seat safety switch. If it’s not activated (from your weight on the seat) the engine is killed when you put it in gear, or engage the blades. Lift up the seat and check the switch – wires on tight? switch tightly mounted? You can take the switch out and tape it in the pushed-in position to test things. If that doesn’t let the mower run, the switch itself is probably bad, but it could also be a connector that knocked loose when you serviced the mower. Check wires and connectors. Good luck!

I started the mower but the blades will not turn. I shut it off and was able to manually turn the blades by hand. I also was able to turn the belt wheel under the engine and have it turn the blades. With it running and me on the seat, they don’t turn. With it running; brake engaged; and I pull the mower switch to engage them, the mower wants to die. Two questions: Is there a swtich on the seat to insure the blades can not turn while no one is on the seat? Is there a key between the belt wheel and the PTO shaft that needs to be replaced? Thank you.
ANSWER : Most all riders have a safety seat switch now and they do malfuction alot. They are under the seat and are ez to replace most of the time. First look for a wire that is grounding due to rubbing a sharp object. That can be fixed with black tape

When I engage the clutch, the engine dies. The baldes turn freely, so it looks like and electrical problem. Is there a safety device that would kill the engine when the clutch is engaged?
ANSWER : All modern riding mowers now days have several safety switches and or relays/micro switches. Some are simple blade switches that make or break contact depending on the position of a lever. There is a contactor under the seat that will kill the engine if you fall off(you have to sit on it for it for the engine to keep running). There is one that kills the engine if you put the mower in reverse with the blades engaged. And there is a contactor that senses wether the mower blades are in fact engaged or not. It may be awkward but you can look at all the mechanisms and find where the different contactors are and move the levers back and forth to see if they aren’t dirty, bent, or a securement screw is loose or missing. It is also possible that one of the wires are broken or have come off of its connection point. Once you inspect them you should be able to determine the next course of action. These are not hard to fix although they can be difficult to get to. If it has a micro-switch at one of these locations you may need to test it with a continuity meter to determine if it is good or not.

Mowing deck makes ticking noise when blades are engaged.
ANSWER : A FEW THINGS TO LOOK AT ARE ,1THE PULLY SHIELDSMAKE SURE THEY AREN’T BENT TO CLOSE TO THE PULLEY’S.2 THE PULLEY BEARING’S MAY BE WORE OUT AND TO BREAK .3LOOK UNDER THE DECK TO MAKE SURE YOU DIDN’T GET SOMETHING TRAPED IN THE CUTTING DECK.HOPE THIS HELPED.
