The numbers stand for an application rate. A bag of commercial fertilizer will usually have numbers for where to set either broadcast or drop spreaders to get the recommended amount of fertilizer laid down. The numbers on the bag may be different for various brands of spreaders.
To spread Soil Doctor brand pelletized lime, set a broadcast spreader to two-thirds open, or a drop spreader to one-third open, or equivalent.
If you are using a drop spreader, such as Scott`s Classic Drop Spreader, and using a Yard Mastery granular fertilizer, you will want to set your spreader at a 7.
