For each intake cycle of the engine, the engine draws a small amount of fuel from the lower fuel chamber past the low speed mixture circuit. The drawn fuel opens the fuel flow seat and the engine vacuum actually draws the fuel from the fuel supply pipe via the upper chamber.
If the float height is too high, this will cause the fuel to rise to a level above the operational spec. If the fuel height is a bit too high and the bike is running, the engine will display a rich running condition, which will make the throttle response slow and the engine note muffled.
If the mixture is too lean, it will leave no color, while a rich mixture will cause the fuel ring to become more prominent. Over-rich mixtures will give the plug a sooty appearance.
The high fuel pressures used in these systems also improve fuel atomization at the injector nozzle. To adapt the fuel pressure in the rail, the fuel metering valve on the mechanical fuel pump controls the amount of fuel entering the pump. The plunger is held fully open by a spring to let fuel pass through.
Carburetor or the injection system meters the amount of fuel to be delivered into the air stream, which is, depends on load. Any two of the following could determine load: a) Torque, b) Engine speed, c) Throttle position, d) Rate of airflow, e) Pressure in the inlet manifold.
A diaphragm metering pump is a positive displacement pump designed to operate as a proportional dosing pump. It uses a flexible diaphragm in place of a piston to change the volume of the pump`s chamber to increase and decrease pressure on the fluid inside.
TI Automotive purchased Walbro`s automotive fuel pump division in approx yr2000, and is the actual manufacturer of all Walbro branded automotive fuel pumps and fuel delivery modules.
It`s like a “VIN” for your carburetor and should be hand-stamped on the front of the choke tower to the right of the vent tube on most typical Holley carbs. The list number typically is four to six digits long and may or may not have a suffix number behind it.
Start by locating the three adjustment screws. They are typically labeled L (low speed jet), H (high speed jet), and I (idler jet).

Where does the fuel line from tank with filter fit on walbro carb.also where does the primer line go?
The fuel line from the tank fits to the main fuel inlet on the carb ( the inlet nearest to the alloy pump cover secured by a single screw), the other conection on the carb has a pipe that conects to the shortest conection on the back of the primer ( suction side ) a pipe then goes from the longer conection on the primer ( pressure side ) back to the tank, it just pushes into the top of the tank.So to recap the primer pulls fuel from the carb, and dumps it back into the tank.
Pour gas in carb. will run few sec. replaced both gas lines and filter.
You will need to clean the carb or if this unit has a walbro carb buy a rebuild kit and it will work just fine.. Good Luck…
How do you set the carburator back to factory specs. mine wont keep running
Basic settings can vary from model to model, a good starting point for most carbs is screw both H and L screw right in ,then back the H screw out 1 turn and the L screw 1 and1/4 turns, the machine should run well enough to fine adjust from there, they are both fuel screws, so the more you unscrew them the richer the saw becomes, always remember if there in another under lying problem adjusting the carb screws will not always help, before any adjustment clean or replace the fuel filter in the fuel tank.

You most likely have either a Zama diaphragm carb or a Walbro diaphragm. Here is how they are adjusted.
What is the carb model # for zr05870, Its a Walbro carb?
From the pictures in the parts breakdown, this appears to be one of the newer model rotary-type carburetors. It is listed as part number 308028001. There is no mention of this machine in the Walbro carburetor application guide however. After viewing the picture and with the prefix of the carburetor known, you should be able to locate it on the Walbro website. I bought a McCulloch leaf blower at a yard sale and was wondering what the fuel ratio was? I got it running with some chainsaw gas I had 40:1
That is OK, 50 to 1 is the rate used on the new blowers.
My Poulan 2025 Chainsaw fuel hoses have broke down and fell apart. I have new fuel line but do not know the hose routing. All I found in the tank was pieces of hose and the filter. Only one hole coming out of the tank (not two like my other 2 cycle engines). The carb is a Walbro 940 WT324 and has two fuel line nipples… Does it go filter- out the tank – Y to primer bulb – carb and other side of Y straight to carb? Which nipple on carb is for the prime and which is straight from the tank?
