Reliable easy-starting and powerful Honda® four-cycle engine. Requires no mixing of oil and gas and runs quieter.
If there is no spark, this indicates that the spark plug is defective and should be replaced.
What is the gas to oil ratio for Mantis 2-cycle engines? Always make sure you use the proper 50:1 mixture ratio; that is 2.6 ounces of oil to 1 gallon of 89 octane or higher gasoline.
Simply choose between 11, 16 or 21 inch tilling widths and set your tilling depth up to 11” deep. As a cultivator, the Versa can weed, mulch and aerate soil. As a tiller, it powers through large plots of land to weed and prepare seed beds for planting.
Engines on 4-cycle cultivators are more fuel-efficient than 2-cycle engines, so you get more mileage out of every tank of gas (even if you`re only working on a small garden bed!). Generally speaking, 4-cycle engines are larger and heavier than 2-cycle engines.
One of the most popular powered tiller brands on the market is the Mantis Tillers. They`ve been the go-to tiller for devoted gardeners for over 40 years. The brand`s popularity is bolstered by the variety of options available oil, gas, 2 stroke, and 4 stroke. Mantis is worth the money.
You could have a clogged fuel cap, which can prevent air from entering the gas tank. Loosen the gas cap a little and start the tiller again. If it starts and stays running, try cleaning or replacing the gas cap. A clogged carburetor could also be the problem.
Use a 32:1 gasoline to oil ratio. One gallon of gasoline combined with 4 oz of two-cycle engine oil.
All Troy-Bilt tillers are shipped without oil in the engine, so the first thing you must do before starting and using your new tiller is add oil and fill the fuel tank. The engines in these tillers run on unleaded gasoline. Oil is added separately and is not mixed with the fuel.
Always make sure you use the proper 50:1 mixture ratio. Convenient, pre-measured bottles of premium 2-stroke engine oil are available via our online shopping: 2 stroke oil for Mantis tillers.
The main difference between a 2- and 4-stroke engine is that a 4-stroke engine goes through four stages, or two complete revolutions, to complete one power stroke. A 2-stroke engine goes through 2 stages, or one complete revolution, to complete one power stroke.

Mantis-20 will not start – have tried new fuel?
ANSWER : Hi, chances are the old fuel has gone bad and caused the spark plug to get muck on it, i would go out and buy a new spark plug then leave the plug out but fitted to the ht lead, then rest the plug on a metal part of the engine then try stating it and make sure you have a good strong spark between the gap in the plug, if you have a good spark then take the plug out the ht lead but also leave it out the engine, then keep pulling the starter for about 20 to 30 seconds to ensure you have only the new fuel coming through into the combustion chamber, you should be able to smell the fuel after few seconds, then put the spark plug back in and try starting it, you should find it will now start.let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
