Oil leaks out on the right-hand side, dripping onto the “fender”. This is associated with a lot of smoking and low power. Then it clears up and runs OK. Perhaps I have overfilled the oil? I had used the machine for
Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
Sounds like your gas tank is not breathing properly. try this: the next time you run the tiller and it begins to stall out, try loosening the gas cap. It should start running again. This means that the gas cap is clogged. Unclog it or purchase another one.Jim

4-stroke Mantis tiller: my machine smokes, there is too much oil in it, how do I clean it? If your machine smokes, if oil flows through the air filter or of the rope is blocked, there is too much oil in the machine. Sometimes, when the machine does not start, it can also be because of an excess of oil in the reservoir.
The plug will depend on the SV number on your engine; the gap will be the same for each engine – . 024-. 028.
Over time, some of the ingredients in the fuel may evaporate, leaving behind a thicker, stickier substance. This sticky fuel can clog up the carburetor and cause the engine to stall. If the carburetor is clogged, try cleaning it with carburetor cleaner.
So why do praying mantises dance? It is a way for the males to attract potential mates and it is also a way for the females to ensure that they have enough food to nourish their eggs. The praying mantis family includes over 2,400 species.
Ventilation: avoid stagnant air and water. A habitat should have two opposite ventilation areas. (One should be on a lower and the other one on a higher position.)
Do Spark Plugs Always Have to Be Gapped? Not always. In the past, it was necessary to gap spark plugs, but today spark plugs are usually pre-gapped. It is advisable to double check that the gap is correctly set to the vehicle`s recommended setting when installing spark plugs.
Tighten the spark plug finger-tight until the gasket reaches the cylinder head, then tighten about ½ – ⅔ turn more with a spark plug wrench.
First, check to see if the mantis is dehydrated. If so, try misting it with some water. If the mantis is not dehydrated, then the next most likely cause of death is cold weather. Try moving the mantis to a warmer location.
How Do I Know If My Praying Mantis Is Hungry? A praying mantis will usually let you know when it is hungry by becoming more active and trying to climb higher up on its cage. You may also see it extend its abdomen and mouthparts as if it is trying to reach for food.
For full replacement use SAE 140 or SAE 85W-140 gear oil with an API rating of GL-4 only. We have also found that 80W-90 oil with an API rating of GL-1 is acceptable for both partial and full replacement of tiller gear oils.
What is the gas to oil ratio for Mantis 2-cycle engines? Always make sure you use the proper 50:1 mixture ratio; that is 2.6 ounces of oil to 1 gallon of 89 octane or higher gasoline. If your engine is getting hot, you may not have enough oil in your gas mixture to properly lubricate the engine.
Blue or white smoke coming from your engine usually indicates burning oil, which can be caused by: Overfilling the crankcase with oil. Incorrect oil grades. Operating engine at greater than a 15 degree angle.
Praying mantises, unlike some other invertebrates such as tarantulas, do not show any symptoms of dehydration. As a result, all praying mantid species should be misted on a regular basis. Exotic pet owners frequently feed feeder insects with citrus fruits and bug gels.

I added to much oil it leaked out of the carb now when I strat it up it smokes white smoke for a minute then stops and runs fine
ANSWER : If you are concerned, you can remove some of the oil. Place a pan under the mower and loosen the oil pan bolt but do not remove it completely. Drain a few ounces of oil out and then tighten it up. Be sure to take the wire off the spark plug before you do this. The lower oil level should stop the smoking.

How much gas to mix the oil in? – Mantis 2-Cycle Tiller
ANSWER : First check that your Mantis needs an oil/gas mixture, most of the newer Mantis tillers have four-stroke motors meaning they have oil in the crankcase and use straight gas. If your Mantis needs oil mixed in the gas use a 50:1 ratio. That’s usually 2.6 ounces of two-cycle oil (it’s sold in bottles that size) to one gallon of gas but read the oil bottle to get the proper mix ratio.

What type of oil does it use? – Troy-Bilt 4-Cycle Curve Shaft Gas String Trimmer #41ADT41C966
ANSWER : I think all of these 4-stroke trimmers use SAE 30HD oil. I recommend synthetic. If you use synthetic, you can get away with using a multi-viscosity like 10W-30 if you can’t find straight SAE30 synthetic, but don’t use muti-viscosity conventional oil in these machines.
