Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
By stalling you mean quit or bogs down until you release spray? The engine has to be on high speed and be in good tune with good gas to produced the horse power for the pump. A too small water supply hose can add to to the engine load trying to suck water that is not there.

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

Water leaking from a loose connection can cause the unit to cycle on and off. Verify if the pressure hose has an O-ring at the connection. If missing, this will also cause the unit to cycle on and off. While the unit is running look for any water leaks that may cause the unit to turn back on.
Replace leaking, punctured or rusted hoses. Clean your drain pump every three months to avoid clogging. You might be using more detergent than necessary. In this case, your washing machine will stop and try to absorb the excess foam in its drum.
Unused fuel inside the carburetor starts to evaporate after a month, leaving a thick and sticky tar-like material in the carburetor. This substance blocks gas movement inside the carburetor, and your pressure washer keeps shutting off while working.
There could be small leaks, holes, or tears in your garden hose or high-pressure hose that are causing your pressure washer to lose pressure when you pull the trigger. If you find leaks, plug the holes or replace the hose, which should solve your pressure issues.
If your washer is not progressing to the rinse cycle, the timer may have gone faulty so it is not sending the correct signals. It is also possible that the gears on the timer are simply dirty.
Possible Causes

One common issue that can cause a washing machine`s cycle to stop is the heater to stop working properly. To test this set your washer on a cycle and monitor it every so often, if the cycle stops within the first 30 minutes then the water likely isn`t getting sufficiently heated.

Load Imbalance

The machine will automatically shut down when it senses the load is out of balance to prevent mechanical damage. Turn the washer off and re-balance the load by moving the clothes to an equal distribution. When you close the lid, spinning should resume.

DON`T Let the Machine Run Too Long Without Pulling the Trigger. Pressure washers operate under pressure, and that pressure needs to be released by pulling the trigger. If you let the machine run for two minutes or longer without spraying water, then you could damage the pump.
It Can Harm The Unit

Without water to cool and lubricate it, the pump will work harder than it should, causing it to wear down quickly. This can happen even with just a few seconds of running the pressure washer without the water being turned on. However, the pump is not the only part that takes damage.

Do Washing Machines Work Without Water? Most washing machines rely on water pressure coming from a preinstalled pump. This means that without being hooked on a water source, they will not work. Nor will it run if the water dispensing valves can`t open fully due to the lack of power.
A trapped pressure unloader valve opens when there is an increase in pressure, so when the trigger on the gun is released (open) the pressure increases and opens the unloader valve sending the water back to a holding tank or back to the inlet side of the pump.
As a rule, modern wash cycle times generally increase with load weight, or vice versa. So don`t be concerned if your 7 kg wash takes 3 hours for example. However, if it takes 3 hours to wash 3 T-shirts, for example, then there might be an issue that needs addressing – just contact the manufacturer.
The average life of a washing machine ranges from 10 to 13 years, although some brands can manufacture washing machines with an even longer lifespan than the average appliance. So, while you are on the hunt for your new washing machine, you won`t have to wonder “how long should a washing machine last” anymore.
If a washer stops mid-cycle, it could be because the pump or the motor that runs it has failed. When this happens, it cannot remove the water efficiently, pump water in, and thus the sensors won`t allow it to move to the next cycle.
Machine Type: Gas pressure washers can typically run for about 30 minutes before they need a break. Electric models can usually go for an hour or more. If you`re using a hot water pressure washer, you`ll need to give it breaks more frequently – about every 15 minutes.
Some of the most common faults that will make your washer stop mid cycle include thermostat failure, problems filling up with water for the rinse cycle, or even pump problems that prevent your washer from draining. One thing that you can check yourself is the lid switch.

How Do I Tell If My Unloader Valve is Bad? In most occurrences, the first symptom of an unloader valve going bad is no pressure from the wand when the trigger is pressed. This happens when the unloader valve gets stuck open and does not allow water to enter the hose and trigger.
A failed unloader valve won`t recirculate water back to the pump inlet, so pump outlet pressure builds up, making it harder for the engine to run the pump. The engine bogs down when it struggles to run the pump. Try this test to see if a bad unloader is causing the engine to lose power.

Got it to run but it stalls under load when mowing. any ideas
ANSWER : Hi kcoe67…

Sounds like you have dirt/debris in your caburetor jets, fuel passages or a diaphgram that is becoming non-flexible. Check/Clean/Replace your Air Filter, a dirty air filter can make your engine run to rich with fuel.
Note: ALWAYS USE COMPRESSED AIR TO CLEAN YOUR JETS AND PASSAGES, VERY IMPORTANT.
Note:Before you disassemble the carburetor:Mark each piece with a awl, or some kind of instrument that will make an alignment scratch before you disassemble the carburetor into separate pieces. That way you will know which way it goes back together when you reassemble it.
Sometimes you can get by with priming the carburetor or by using starting fluid and letting it run a few times like that, and it will flush the gunk out of the jets, but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.Be sure to check your fuel tank for water and dirt/debris, if there is water/debris then you need to clean your tank.Check you fuel line condition after a while they will degrade and need replacment.
Check/Clean/Replace your fuel filter if you have one.Make sure you are using fresh fuel.If the mower is over a couple of years old, then I recommend that you buy and install a new carburetor repair kit, because the diaphragm will get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank. The diaphgram may look good and flexible, but it can be deceiving and not act as a fuel pump as it should because it has become too hard and will cause hard starting, start and run and shut off, etc.
When you clean your carburetor, I recommend that you use a laquer thinner type cleaner to clean and dissolve the laquer build-up in the float and needle jet passages.Be sure to remove all plastic and rubber parts before using the laquer thinner because it can dissolve the plastic parts and render them unuseable.Be sure to use COMPRESSED AIR to blow out all the fuel and air passages. The higher air pressure is needed to blow some of the trash/debris from the fuel or air passages.Be careful when blowing out the passages, because there are sometimes small rubber type seats in the bottom of some of the passages.Keep in mind that the float (if you have one) for the carburetor must be level when you go to reassemble the carburetor or follow the instructions you get with the carburetor kit, or you could also ask the parts man that you get your kit from. When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, you will first need to lightly seat the jet screws. But before you lightly seat the jet screws count the number of turns it takes to seat the jet screws from their original position.Be sure to mark the turns down on a piece of paper. That way when you put the jets back in, you know to lightly seat them first and then turn them back out to their original position before you started.

I need to find out what the voltage output and the miliamp output is on a toro z4220 mower my battery keeps going dead i have replaced it once already

Thank yoy

ANSWER : You should have around 13.1 volts at the battery as the engine runs. If its 12 volts or lower – check or replace the voltage regulator. To check the regulator, stop engine, remove regulator plug, get a ohm meter and put the black lead to any ground, and touch the red lead to all the terminals one by one on the voltage regulator – you should get 3 readings – one lower than the other. If you dont get any readings – the regulator is definitely bad

My Z5426 won’t start. When I pull out the choke and turn the key, gas starts leaking out of the exhaust system just before it gets to the muffler. Last time it did start, it ran really rough. So, I turn off the engine and then tried to restart and that’s when I noticed the fuel leak.
ANSWER : Maybe bad fuel, fuel line leaking, flooding of the carburetor, since it did start and ran rough I am assuming that the gas was left set and more then likely this gummed up the carburetor, you will have to clean/rebuild it. If you have a can of carburetor clean you may be able to spray that into there and clean it up, I would not choke it to start it as it sounds like it got/is flooded/ing. Good Luck Tim
