How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

If your chainsaw pull cord can`t be pulled, the engine may have seized. This is caused by the fuel mixture being incorrect and having a lack of oil to lubricate the motor.
The problem may be in the recoil starter itself. A tangled coil of rope or a broken spring may be the problem. In many cases the recoil starter is easily replaced as a single assembly. DO NOT attempt do take the starter apart.
One way the starter cord can get stuck is due to hydraulic lock, which is caused by oil getting trapped in the combustion chamber. You`ll need to release the compression and the oil, so remove the spark plug and then give the cord a tug.
A dirty carburetor, bad gasoline and low-quality two-stroke oil that creates deposits all contribute to chainsaw starting problems.
Recoil starters generally include a pull cord wrapped about a pulley, the pulley being rotated by pulling on the pull cord. The rotational energy generated from the pull cord and pulley is transferred to the drive shaft of the engine through a ratchet and/or clutch mechanism.
Unfortunately, you also know the struggles that come with it. Your bathroom pull cord keeps breaking for 1 of 3 reasons. Either it`s had too much heavy-handed use, it was cheaply made, or you`ve got a loose wire somewhere. Whichever one it is, there`s a solution for you.
When the cord is pulled, a radio signal is sent to the Lifeline home unit or other Tunstall compatible telecare system, which then raises a call to the monitoring centre. Calls activated by a pull cord can be relayed to a response centre through Tunstall telecare enabled systems providing a 24-hour response.
Briggs And Stratton Lawn Mower Engine Locked Up

Common causes of this type of engine lock-up include a lack of oil in the engine, incorrect fuel and spark plug misfiring.

The throttle and lock safety feature prevents accidental throttle engagement. Both the throttle and and lock must be pressed in order for the chain to move.
Grab wire switches, or rope pull switches, are a type of emergency stop switch that is hung by a cable around a piece of machinery. They are operated by pulling on the cable, which isolates the circuit connecting the machinery, stopping whatever hazardous action is occurring.
The recoil starter is the pull-start mechanism on the back of the engine that enables you to start your snow blower or lawnmower. The starter cord is also called a starter rope.
Pull the plastic housing of the electric plug to take it out of the wall socket; never pull on the cord. Do not overload electric outlets with too many items plugged in at once.
To disconnect the power cord, pull it out by plug. Do not drag the cord itself. Doing so may result in damage to the cord, leading to fire or electric shock. For safety reason, unplug the power cord from the wall outlet if the machine will not be used for an extended period of time such as holidays.
Sometimes, when your starter rope will not retract into your leaf blower, it can be because it is jammed between the pulley and the housing, or it is wrapped around the hub. In this case, you will often be able to fix the symptom by simply opening the machine and untangling or removing the rope from where it is stuck.
The number one safety rule regarding device power cords – never pull or yank a plug out of an outlet by the cord. DO use a firm grip on the plug end, not the cord, when plugging in and unplugging. Don`t wrap the cord around a device in such a way where it strains the connection at the device.
